Good Morning. Did you sleep well? It certainly feels like you have, perhaps too well, even for those who don't normally sleep. Maybe that's to be expected in this fairy tale, maybe it was only a matter of time.

does anything look out of the ordinary? does it look like this place was broken into or anything violent happened here? ]

[Well like, there's a parrot next to a body so that probably stands out.

But anyways as for other weird stuff around the rooftop, there sure are some points of interest!

However, before we get to all that... a couple questions: how did you guys get up here, and how much were you paying attention on the way up?]

no ok he did not in this case, mostly because there is a child tagging along with him, but he would have entered through the front door and up the stairs (until realising the stairs don't go up rip) - a little late (considering that he and koto would have had to walk over from the lodging area after the body announcement!

since the stairs don't go up to the rooftop, william and koto will both end up climbing the slats once they realise that pericles is on the rooftop - they're both pretty agile and it's fine, they'll be fine. a little bit winded, but they'll be fine.

he's more interested in getting to the scene of the crime while it's still relatively fresh so while he'll probably investigate more thoroughly while on the way downstairs, anything that is obviously out of place inside and outside (blood spatters? knocked over furniture? signs of struggle?) would probably be taken note of and investigated later unless one of the other groups got to it first ]

[ I'm gonna say Koto was told to wait a bit after Moriarty to get up there for safety, so that it isn't broken by their combined weight. Now, is it sturdy and in good shape still after a bird, a victim, a murderer, and a man have climbed it? She would rush it, but rushing a climb ain't easy on a not ladder. Time for her to investigate the climb and trellis sorta! Either now or after thorough body investigation because Moriarty told her to. Yes she's grumping. ]

[Right, well one thing to note on the way up the trellis is that it's not the most sturdy structure in the world here; William alone is fine, Koto alone is fine, but it would be readily apparent that having them both get on simultaneously would be asking for trouble (or a couple broken necks). In fact, William alone would be enough to warp the slats a little during the climb, so be careful on the way up.

As for the rooftop itself, no blood or anything like that, but there are a couple of places where the clay roofing tiles look like they were dislodged. One spot is closer to the east side of the roof, while the other spot is closer to where the body was found. Where to first?]

[ East side for starters then! She'll even investigate the surrounding tiles if they're hard to dislodge normally, like with her feet by kicking or nudging.]

Herr Moriarty, Frau Koto.

[The birb is by the body, giving the two only the shortest of glances before returning his attention to it. At least he isn't telling them to leave?]

[ nodding in acknowledgment. he doesn't seem surprised or shocked at the body At All, just kind of... impassive? ]

Have you been here long?

Not horribly so.

[So he isn't the only one being more or less emotionless about this. Good, the more level-headed people there are, the better.]

An ott place to leave a body, is it not?

[ he's also a little bit winded from actually climbing the damn trellis, so give him a moment to catch his breath. ]

A very... inaccessible place, as I'm sure you agree.

[ Oh. Bodies are not her Forte so she'll keep a distance to ask. ]

[ A bird can do only so much, yeah? ]

We were just going to check the roof because it seemed out of the way.

[He's not fully sure what much Koto can do, but if there's witnesses to know he's honest about the scene, better for him.]

Be careful you don't fall. Ve do not neet any more innocent lives lost today.

[ Nod! They can vouch for the his honesty at least. ]

The trellis is getting wobbly. Is that the only way up here?

[Well, he did find the body, and he's probably one of the more qualified people to look it over-and least likely to get horribly upset over it.

First, the neck. Is there just signs of strangulation, or anything more?]

Anyways, it pretty much is just the ligature mark that goes around the front and side of her neck, which look to be about an inch wide. The scratches mentioned earlier are also quite light and there are some above and below the ligature mark.]

[He knows what that means-that scratches, anyway. He'll have to find out the weapon later.

So, the gut wound. Stab wound? Or is clothing covering a notable bruise?]

[The gut wound is... not visible with her clothing on, so yes, he will need to remove her uniform shirt somehow. Once he does, he'll find that there's a large bruise there, which is about the size of a baseball or something similar.]

[A punch to the gut-or something similar-before being strangled with something. He can't help but wonder why the former was necessary...

Something to figure out late. Now, if there are no other wounds, he'll be checking her hands. Skin under the fingernails? Any chance there's a signed note from the murderer?]

[Checking her hands might take a little bit of extra work considering she's pretty stiff, so he'll need to unravel more of the cloth and rope that's wound around her. Once that is done though, he sure will find some skin and a bit of blood under her fingernails!

No signed note from the murderer though, unfortunately! We can't always get what we want.]

[ do the ropes on the body match the ligature mark? ]

[They do not! If he compares the rope with the ligature mark, he'll find that the rope is too narrow to have made the bruising.]

[ is there any obvious residue as to what would have made the ligature mark - whether it was a coarse fibre, silk, etc.? knot indentations?

he would probably be able to tell based on the shape of the marks left behind (e.g. whether it was a smooth line, scratchy material etc. etc. ]

[No residue, nope! There also aren't any noticeable imprints of knots or anything either, but it is notable that the marks are not completely uniformly dark? There are some places in the middle of the mark where it's lighter, which run mostly in parallel to the mark itself.]
