FINAL INVESTIGATION

Good morning and happy Friday. Despite the sense of the coming end, today starts off just like any other Friday in Aira Niluc, with a song finding its way to your ears. Normally this would be followed by an announcement, but there is only silence in it's wake.

The curious might be piqued to gather where what's becoming familiar by now, and they'll find that the fountain is completely drained, leading downward into a completely dark abyss. An emerald slide glitters, clearly an invitation of some sort, but it's probably not best to go down there until you're all prepared. Take stock of what you need, explore to find any other changes in the world, and then gather together.

[Welcome, Marcus, Phil, Koto, and Tenn. Perhaps you may be wondering where you'll be taken, what kind of incredibly meaningful place you're going to see, a place in the level of the Grimm Estate above. It's got to be a very pivotal place, surely!

Or it could be the furniture shop.

Exploring around to see what if anything has changed is important. Did anything change in here or can you move on?

[ Let’s go group two!! Tenn arrives to the scene, piggybacking Koto all the way to the furniture shop. Look at this taxi go. ]

Well…this is it.

[ For some reason... ]

I always did think this was an odd thing to have here when we didn't have any buildings we needed to furnish, but...

[ Does anything look out of place as we go around and look at the furnishings on display? ]

[mirrite]

[You know, Marcus feels kind of like an idiot standing here with gunblade in hand, but better safe than sorry, right?]

Hey, you gotta admit it came in handy. But next time I get commissioned to build something like that, I'm gonna start charging a fee.

[kowashi]

[ Koto is on the best steed right now! And she'll get off for proper investigation. ]

[ And now time to piggyback off of Phil's ponderings. ]

It was probably for the plays, right? And fixing things?

[One of the best things about there being four people here is that finding something doesn't take long.

In this case, yes, there's something off. Something does look out of place -- perhaps it's because of how it's all close to the end, but right now it's fairly easy to see something on one of the walls of the furniture shop:

The outline of a secret compartment. Thankfully, it was unlocked weeks ago. Inside it still looks as empty and slimy as usual, though.

Oh well. What a bust, huh? Guess this investigation ends here, thanks for coming...

Do you think there’s something beyond this compartment?

[ are we blowing shit up— ]

Well, the workshop is one thing, but the store...

[ Well, anyway. He'd kind of forgotten about what it was that was in here before, honestly. Thank you NHS for removing the junk that was in here before and saving him from having to think about picnics... ]

For something this oddly out of place, there must be. Shall we use one of the stones, or...?

[mirrite]

Might as well. It's not like we have any other leads right now.

[Give him a moment to put his gunblade away and pull out his adder stone so he can take a look...]

If it doesn't work, we can use more firepower!

[ Huehuehue. Okay no we shall use the rock. ]

[The dreams of using firepower to open a hole on this wall are tragically dashed when the adder stone reveals stuff. Alas, things happen.

At first the compartment looks normal...until you see one of the bricks on the far wall look a little different. Without the stone it looks like a normal stone, and to the touch it feels mundane, but with the adder stone you can see a strange mechanism behind it.

It looks like you can rotate the entire wall by using this brick. It was really well disguised, no wonder it went unnoticed until now.

Just one person opening the passageway will be enough!]

[ Interesting. He’s looking at the stone over Marcus’ shoulder, and Tenn reaches over to fiddle with the brick. He pushes on it, pulls on it, wiggles it — trying to see if it’ll lead anywhere. ]

Content Warning: Bugs

[The whole wall rotates forty-five degrees. There's an audible click before the way opens up! The back wall retreates to a side, revealing a circular tunnel. IT's...it's an odd tunnel, like concentric circles beckoning you forward. They're all tinted with interesting-looking blue and purple hues, giving it a sensation of depth.

It feels like it extends forward and then curves into a U, leading into some place underneath the furniture shop. The end of the tunnel has a door, small and square. It's unlocked! And so, everyone can come in. Welcome!

This...is a place. From one glance everyone can tell it's a living room of some sort. There are no doors, but there's a window with some potted plants on the windowsill -- window that shows nothing but white. The thing, though...is that everything is bugs.

A console table to a side of the living room is made of stickbugs holding wooden panels, even forming drawers. A couch seems to be a very large beetle with its shell open and furnished with elegant cushions. To a side there's a bookshelf that's modelled after a cockroach, sturdy-looking and brown. A desk with a frame like caterpillars, large and imposing.

It could...be considered a eccentric taste, but, uh, everything is twitching. Alive. It's gross...and it looks like this is where you'll be for a while.

Time to get searching! Looks like there's enough places for all four people -- windowsill, couch, console table, bookshelf, desk.]

[ He hates it. So much.

But uh, okay. He looks extremely grossed out and very tentative as he makes his way over to the desk.

What kinds of things are on the tabletop, first of all? ]

[Well!

Right here on top of the desk there's what seems to be a strange, round mesh. It's as if someone took a globe and peeled it until only the underlying wires and stuff were left. Odd, that.

Other than that there's a piece of paper aside. There's also one large drawer, because beetles aren't known for having a lot of space for stashing stuff around in]

[ is the mesh circular like a glove too?

And he will grab the paper as well. What does it say? ]

[Who the hell decorated this place, he wants their interior design license revoked immediately--

Okay but no, he'll... take the couch, he guesses, because that's not quite as gross as that bookshelf. No way is he touching that one, so have at it, Koto.

Let's look underneath and behind the couch first!]

[ Do you really want to look underneath and behind this couch when there's a book write on top of it? ]

[mirrite]

[Well, that makes his life easier, then! No crawling around trying to reach underneath it... yet.

So, what's in the book, hm?]

[kowashi]

Ugh.

[ Unfortunately they must press on and keep searching... Koto will check out the bookshelf because she's not that bothered and can smash it if it moves or something. Do they have copies of Eclipse? Assuming it has books... ]

[ It does have books. Most of the books are about jello. Though there are also are a fair few normal cookbooks, and Good Housekeeping magazines. There is one book who's cover seems to be in a language Koto can't read, though. ]

[kowashi]

[ She's surprised that whoever lives here can maintain they're uh, appetite. ]

There's so many books on jello...

[ She'll want to take a look at the weird book first though, so she'll pull it off the shelf. Flipping through the pages, is there anything interesting? ]

[ Interesting... also, yikes, but interesting.

He'll look at the console table, then. It sounds like these stickbugs are doing their best, he supports them. Is there anything on top of the table? ]

[Oh yes there is. Looks like there are two drawers and one thing on top of the console table.

On top there's...a wreath! Or at least it looks like a wreath. It looks like it was carved on wood, and it's quite immaculately made. Most people would be jealous of the craftmanship, really!

At the same time, though, there's something that feels odd about this wreath. It's...a feeling Phil will get from looking at it. Doesn't seem like it's harmful, though]
