EXECUTION III
Execution
Like clockwork, the melody calls you together for the execution, although the circumstances are perhaps a bit better, if you can even call it that. Those who choose to attend will see an odd sight: two winged beings present in a magical bubble: one is Lucifer of course, six wings folded like they were much of yesterday and the other is a cream colored mourning dove, Nageki.
The mirrors and scenery is much like it was the week before, but—the air feels slightly heavier today? Maybe today is just a day for oddities.

EXECUTION

So when it's time, he just. Comes in quietly. There's no need for excess words here but he would like to offer one thing. An apology. ]
I'm sorry to put you through this.

[ For an executioner, Nageki seems strangely unarmed, only carrying a book omnipresent with him since last week: Night on the Galactic Railroad. Nothing about his tone seems to betray any sort of nervous energy, nor is his gaze anything but frigid. ]
Because I've been thinking of another end to this.

Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. He didn't know Nageki too well and he knows it is odd of him to feel viscerally sickened by the sight in front of him, but there was some part of him that really wanted to pin hope and idealism on this world of sentient birds. A nice fantasy, a far-away land populated by the things he loves the most... Not without strife, but still...
It had been unfair to harbor those thoughts about someone else's real life, and still. McGillis thinks he might actually throw up, this time. ]

He's not sure how long he stays like that - how long he forgets to breathe - until the burning in his lungs reminds him that he needs oxygen and he sucks in a few deep, gasping breaths that end up being more akin to sobs than anything else.
And that's all he can manage for the moment, half-sprawled on top of Phil and Tenn with his head still spinning and his heart thudding so loudly he's sure it must be audible...]
