EXECUTION III
Execution
Like clockwork, the melody calls you together for the execution, although the circumstances are perhaps a bit better, if you can even call it that. Those who choose to attend will see an odd sight: two winged beings present in a magical bubble: one is Lucifer of course, six wings folded like they were much of yesterday and the other is a cream colored mourning dove, Nageki.
The mirrors and scenery is much like it was the week before, but—the air feels slightly heavier today? Maybe today is just a day for oddities.

But then it hits him that this really happening, and there's nothing he can do to stop it. Sorry guys, he's crying but it looks more like he wants to punch something as he's forced to stumble back.
Why would Nageki-- ]

William's probably strong enough to take him in a fight so he's just going to move to block makoto's field of vision and get him out of that room before the grenades go off???? priorities ]

Surprise 2/2
But he'll take his full weight again, shoving away if they'll let him so he can stand on his own. ]
We just left him in there alone.
You really think he would've blown us all up? This is exactly what he wanted, if you'd just left me, maybe I could've could've talked to them-- why didn't you let me help?
[ angry sobbing!! ]
surprise!!!!
Could you have talked Hamelin down before the grenade had gone off?
[ ... a quiet sigh. ]
Hamelin said that it couldn't be stopped [ yeah, eavesdropping from his conversation with Jack but, Y'KNOW ] and I wasn't about to let you try if you were going to end up being the one splattered across the floor.
... One of my closest subordinates lost his hand to a grenade. Better you alive and whole than missing a limb or an eye because we tried to stop something inevitable.
[ change the things you CAN change, makoto. ]

[ A scoff, gaze falling to glare at the ground. But his shoulders relax after another moment, fists looser. William's right, but that doesn't help how guilty he feels. It manages to make him feel like even more of a failure. Nageki had been more than just smart and useful, he'd been a good person and he only wishes he'd talked to him more, maybe he could've....
The next part softens him further, though. It's not William or Morgan's fault. His glare, pointed downward, eases as he wipes at his tears. ]
... Thanks. Both of you.
