Early to bed, early to rise. At least it seems that's how it was for you last night, no matter what you were doing. Given the events of the past weekend, you might find your mind jumping to conclusions.
[Nothing strange on the way there, and Morgan seems to have the rest of the evidence covered in the house, so he's free to look at the corpse if Pericles doesn't beat him to it first.]
[ definitely no breaking and entering, huh - he'll join pericles at the body in a bit, but is there any evidence as to whether it looked like people entered willingly (e.g. no broken locks, forced-open windows, assuming both killer and victim went through the front doors, etc. etc. ]
[Looks like things are pretty much intact. The locks are fine, there are absolutely no windows to be found, and the front door is the only way to come into this house!]
[Ignoring the Gin-shaped elephant in the room, there's an object that perhaps carries just as much weight: a kitchen knife! Lying there on the floor! At least Morgan probably has general knowledge about kitchen knives!]
[Let's have faith on that Morgan has seen a kitchen knife at least once in her life, haha!
Onto the investigation: given the corpse over there, it'd be natural to think the knife would have blood on it. Which is why perhaps it's interesting to see it's clean. There's no blood on this knife]
[ Sounds good! She'll probably grab it at some point before she leaves, but for now she'll inspect the furnishings in the house. Anything in particular that's missing, or Obviously out of place? ]
[Well if we're talking about things that are obvious at one glance, perhaps Morgan will be glad to see something that's right by the door. Those certainly shouldn't be there...
You ready to emulate Zola by being a walking armory, Morgan? Because it's more kitchen knives. Two, to be exact]
[Well, as is notable from the wound diagram, Gin's body is overall pretty clean? There's a really obvious slit throat and a stab wound in his chest, but those are the only immediately noticeable wounds with how he's kind of just flopped over on his side.
And of course, there's some noticeably oddities with what's on the floor around his body: some flour around him, mingled amongst the blood leaking from his wounds.]
[Oof, thatβs gotta hurt. But it is somewhat odd. Gin was the one among them that had fought ghosts with a sword, and he goes down with only two wounds? Odd, quite odd indeed.
First, the neck. Assuming the carotid and jugular were cut, is there anything of note with the wound?]
[It does go through those arteries and veins quite cleanly, yes. The wound is slightly angled diagonally, with it being higher on the left side of Gin's neck than his right. In addition, the wound appears to be deeper on the left side compared to the right.
There is also a lot of blood coming from the wound too and it's all over his neck and the front of his clothes too, but that's life (death?).]
[ while pericles is looking at the wounds in more detail william is going to start looking at the bigger picture of things! you know. trying to profile the killer and all that.
firstly, body placement! any signs of struggle evident, or like anything that he'd be able to deduce about the killer - whether the body was placed deliberately flopped over or was it just gravity doing its work, was the body turned since gin's face was obscured
does the amount of blood on the floor track with the wounds? both in amount and positioning, like was he left to bleed out there or were the wounds made first and then he was moved - pls give deets ]
[Gin's body is just slumped there on his side, so nothing particularly special about placement (other than it looking kind of uncomfortable to lie in your own blood ig). His face is obscured because he's kind of just flopped there though.
The blood... well, the apparent size of the pool is certainly consistent with such a wound if you go by the perimeter of it. The interesting part is there are some rather random swirls and streaks in the blood pool that leave less overall volume than you'd expect. Hell, there are parts where enough blood has been swept away that you can see the floor.]
[ disliking the implications of this. still on the body placement - does it look like gin was overpowered in any way? please confirm that there was no evidence of a fight and even morgan's house evidence would be consistent with that?
do the swirls and streaks in the blood look like they were caused by an inanimate object, or do they look consistent with let's say, fingers being drawn through blood or blood streaks because something was dragged through them? can we get a fishy diagram of how the blood streaks and swirls look and relative placement of the body, onegai
assuming that the blood has been there since the time of death, how much of it has been dried up and how much of it is still wet?
also, how fucked up are gin's clothes, especially near the stab wound and the slash on his arm ]
[Regarding being overpowered, what exactly is William looking for here? Broken objects in the vicinity? Additional wounds on Gin?
The streaks and swirls aren't really unidirectional or anything, they're just kind of all over, really. Here is an exceedingly shitty diagram for your reference.
Most of it seems dry, actually? Because the swirling and the streaking did thin out some of the parts of the pool so those areas are fairly dry as are the edges. Some areas of the pool where there was less disturbance may still be slightly tacky though. I'm also dumb and forgot to mention there are also places where some flour has clumped up with the blood so that's also a fun detail!
Gin's clothes are pretty okay if you count 'being soaked in the blood of their owner' okay. Most of the blood on his clothes is localized to chest and the side that's lying in the puddle. There's one hole in his clothes where the chest stab wound is and one long gash in the sleeve where the left arm wound is.
...Also while William's paying attention to the clothes, he can notice that there seems to be some compressed flour stuck to the bottom of Gin's sandals. Some of it comes off randomly and is now floating in the air.]
[The first wound, most likely. Those tend to bleed heavily, especially when combined with hitting both of those major areas.
One other thing about the neck wound. Is the cut clean or jagged? Maybe not the most important thing, but itβs something worth checking, just in case.]
[Alright, thatβs one thing cleared up about the weapon already. Possibly minor, but anything is better than nothing.
Chest wound next. Whatβs the size of it? Does it look like it could be from the same blade as the one that caused the neck wound? Is there much blood coming from it?
