CHAPTER 2
CHAPTER 2
The first chapter was over. The stakes and mechanics of the system you're in have been shown to their full extent, and regardless of how you feel about the Samidare and Zola's deaths, the story must go on.
Clean-up is done with a perfection that'd make you wonder if there ever was a murder on that rooftop in the residential district. Everything is spotless and repaired, making it look like nothing ever happened. If it wasn't for the absence of two people among your number, you'd think it had all been a bad dream. But it wasn't. The brutality of the incident and the execution make that plainly clear.
Now, with the opening of a new week, something else opens. Lands beyond the area you spent seven days in. What will the new week bring? Will it be another murder?
Keep turning the pages and find out.
[[Welcome to Week 2! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure.
In addition, a reminder that any Murder Proposals for this week are due by Tuesday 3:00 PM EST/12:00 PM PST! However, please note that you have the option of submitting murder proposals for a later week as well.]]

But that seems a little young to be gone for
Weeks?

Does it help or hurt if I tell you that children regularly join guilds? I know of at least one who is... thirteen? Twelve? Somewhere in there. Droite and Gauche are among some of the strongest members of my guild.
no subject
[why is your world like this!!]
no subject
[The guilds are just Like This, Suga. Please don't ask him why because he literally has no idea.]
no subject
Some of the kids I wasn't able to save are around that age
[So, you know. He has a more personal reason not to be okay with children risking themselves.]
no subject
I'm terribly sorry to hear that. I can only imagine how difficult it was.
[...]
What... happened? If I may ask.
no subject
The forest behind my village has a spirit who targets children
But no one else in the village believes it exists
I'm the only one who's seen it
I do my best
If I can convince people to stay out of the forest
Or wear protective charms
Or if I catch them going in and stop them
Or if I hear that someone's gone missing, and I'm not too late
Then they'll be okay
But sometimes I'm too late
no subject
[He has no doubts that Suga has tried convincing the others that it exists. Did he turn to charm-making as a way to protect the kids because they wouldn't listen as well?]
Have you seen this spirit?
no subject
I'm lucky to be alive
[Most people don't survive to talk about it.]

My friend risked herself to protect me
The most I could do was offer something so that she wouldn't be killed right away
no subject
no subject
no subject
[A sacrifice to save a friend. Most people would find it worth it, not matter the cost.]
Your friend... Did she survive that encounter?
no subject
The only way you can avoid keeping the promise once made is if you don't remember it
Her family erased her memories and took her far away
I haven't seen her in 12 years
I hope she's happy somewhere
no subject
[But it's clear that Suga's world doesn't operate on the same logic Terca Lumireis does, so maybe that's how things had to be done.]
I truly am sorry you had to go through that. It certainly doesn't explain why you'd find it odd for the guilds to let kids join!
no subject
Is it dangerous
no subject
no subject
no subject
[...for guild work. they are the protag party so they're definitely doing dangerous things, but that's not important!!!]
no subject
That's good to hear
[He believes you, unfortunately.]
no subject
The guilds are home to quite a few people who were once from the Empire... and the people left behind after the Great War. I think he may be one of the orphaned kids and he was taken in by a guild... but that's just a rumor. I don't know him personally, so I couldn't say.
[Does... does that help any...??]
no subject
Sorry for fussing
I just get worried easily
no subject
No, no, it's okay! That simply wasn't something that had occurred to me - that different worlds treat these sorts of things differently. Where I'm from, sixteen is basically an adult. So while I certainly am worried about Droite and Gauche, I do have faith that they'll be just fine until I can return.
[That much isn't something he needs to question at all, really.]
no subject
I hope they like the brooches
