The first chapter was over. The stakes and mechanics of the system you're in have been shown to their full extent, and regardless of how you feel about the Samidare and Zola's deaths, the story must go on.

Clean-up is done with a perfection that'd make you wonder if there ever was a murder on that rooftop in the residential district. Everything is spotless and repaired, making it look like nothing ever happened. If it wasn't for the absence of two people among your number, you'd think it had all been a bad dream. But it wasn't. The brutality of the incident and the execution make that plainly clear.

Now, with the opening of a new week, something else opens. Lands beyond the area you spent seven days in. What will the new week bring? Will it be another murder?

Does it help or hurt if I tell you that children regularly join guilds? I know of at least one who is... thirteen? Twelve? Somewhere in there. Droite and Gauche are among some of the strongest members of my guild.

I truly am sorry you had to go through that. It certainly doesn't explain why you'd find it odd for the guilds to let kids join!

What do guilds do Is it dangerous

It depends on the guild, really. My guild handles mercenary work. We recently had a contract to serve as someone's bodyguard, for example. There are guilds that specialize in certain things as well - there's a guild for blacksmiths and one for merchants, and then there are those that specialize in fighting like the Hunting Blades who handle monsters.

Which one is the child in

He's in a new guild, Brave Vesperia. As far as I know, they aren't doing anything too dangerous.

The guilds are home to quite a few people who were once from the Empire... and the people left behind after the Great War. I think he may be one of the orphaned kids and he was taken in by a guild... but that's just a rumor. I don't know him personally, so I couldn't say.

No, no, it's okay! That simply wasn't something that had occurred to me - that different worlds treat these sorts of things differently. Where I'm from, sixteen is basically an adult. So while I certainly am worried about Droite and Gauche, I do have faith that they'll be just fine until I can return.
