FIRST INVESTIGATION
INVESTIGATION I
Good Morning. Did you sleep well? It certainly feels like you have, perhaps too well, even for those who don't normally sleep. Maybe that's to be expected in this fairy tale, maybe it was only a matter of time.
Regardless, rise and get ready for your day, and keep your eyes to the sky. For who knows if someone fell to temptation?

do the scratch marks near the ligature mark match sami's fingers/nails (aka were they inflicted in self defense or trying to struggle free) or did the killer leave them behind? ]
no subject
no subject
if he puts his fingers up to sami's neck, would the scratch marks be bigger or smaller than like, average male fingernail size? he'll call koto over later to check for a size comparison for her fingernails scratch marks too, just to establish a comparison between whether it was a male/female/child/adult killer ]

he'll move onto the rope around sami's body itself, actually, while pericles is looking at the cloth! since they don't match the ligature marks...
does the rope look immediately identifiable? did it come from the workshop, one of the furniture shops, maybe even the curtains in the lodgings/mansions?? spitballing.
also, can he take the rope with him. ]

... IF THERE'S SOMEONE GOING TO JUMPSCARE HIM AT THE GUTTER--
ahem, he's definitely going to follow the trailing end towards the roof's gutter. also for completionist's sake, what's the approximate distance/length of the rope between the body and the gutter....... and does the rope cross over the hole in the roof I'M GOING TO HAVE TO DRAW THIS PLACEMENT OUT AT SOME POINT AREN'T I
what's he going to find when he approaches the roof gutter ]
no subject
Silly meta aside, the gutter isn't huge so he doesn't have to worry about finding a second wholeass body in there, it's fine!! The rope is definitely not that long though, and I'll also save you the trouble of drawing that map too but the rope is pretty close to the edge of the roof where Samidare was found.
Anyways, inside the roof gutter he'll find...! A curved adze, like the kind you can find in the workshop. The rope is wrapped and fastened around the head and the handle of it, so it won't come loose easily but it's not like it's heavy so William should be able to retrieve it without any trouble.]
no subject
he's taking the adze with him if he can (figuring out how to get down from the rooftop is a problem for future william in like the next ten minutes i guess) after he dislodges it from the gutter!
a couple of questions:
1.) would the adze match the bruise on sami's stomach? aka positive match that this is the murder weapon + is there any blood on it currently or is it pristine?
2.) was the adze modified in any way that might be noticeable, like whether it was sharpened, or is something bent out of shape etc. etc.?
3.) what size/weight is the adze, roughly, given that it was able to be stuck in the roof gutter? would koto be able to carry it? again, he's going to call her over to try holding it. ]
no subject
loottake it with him, but he'll probably either need to unwrap the rest of the rope from Samidare's body or cut it or something. Anyways, William has acquired one (1) adze with rope!!As for the questions:
1. The adze generally looks too narrow to make such a bruise on Samidare's stomach; the bruise is more round-ish in shape while the adze's head is more narrow.
2. Aside from the rope wrapped around the handle and the base of the head (which still leaves the curved metal part exposed), it doesn't look like it's been modified in any other way, nope! With that said, there's a few... brick-colored bits clinging to the curved tip.
3. It's designed as a one handed tool, so it's not that heavy at all. It's probably comparable to a larger hammer in terms of size and weight, but Koto shouldn't have any trouble carrying it around.]
no subject
MOAR QUESTIONS SRY
1.) he'd probably try to use the head of the adze to try and cut the rope - is it sharp enough to cut the rope or would it just end up fraying? EVEN IF IT IS, he'll probably spend the time trying to unravel the rope so he can take the whole thing with him. sorry this is holding up your trial plans, hamelin
2.) anyway leading from that - how long is the whole length of the rope? is it possibly long enough that if thrown from the roof would be able to reach the ground?
3.) do the brick-coloured bits match the chipped parts of the tiles, rip rooftop ]
no subject
1. It's... well, it's not ideal considering it's made to basically scrape out wood, but he could probably manage it with a lot of effort, it would probably just be extremely awkward and tiring. Also I can't believe William's just going to drop into the trial 15 minutes late with Lucibucks--
2. It's definitely long enough that it can reach the ground if thrown from the roof, yep! This is assuming he doesn't actually cut through it, though.
3. The brick colored bits are more pinkish in tone and they actually resemble the building's outer (brick) walls more. rip rooftop tho we knew ye well]

HYPOTHETICALLY. is it strong enough to hold someone's weight-- hold on, he's going to need some help for this.
he's enlisting the help of suga and rika + anyone else who happens to be milling around around the exterior of the house by asking them to try and climb the rope up and also going to holler at someone to check the walls for any chips made by the adze.
would the rope be able to hold someone's weight enough for them to climb up the wall using the trellis/wall/whatever foothold etc. basically he's trying to figure out how the heckkie the body got up there or how SOMEONE got up/down from there. ]
no subject
Wait, you want me to climb up that?
[ Is he getting dragged into things again? Help. ]
no subject
[ chop chop get with the programme. ]
I need data.
[ ???? william your explanations suck ]
no subject
[ Needs more info, but he has just enough to realize... ]
You think this has something to do with the murder?
no subject
Yes, obviously.
If this rope snaps under your weight I want to know.

Just try not to dislodge the corpse from the gutter on the way up.]

Well, if Rika is judging, she's not indicating it, but she does have a look of pity when she glances at Samidare's body. No one deserves to be killed like that.]
Moriarty, sir. Climbing up here with another person on your back would be a feat of strength most people here would struggle with, right?

[Cue Jack Vessalius’ most fashionably late and terrible entrance, in which he’s been trailing after kitchen crew very slowly and possibly has belatedly gotten up the gumption to at least do a corpse visit, but alas...
There is. So much happening, even though his question could likely apply to any point in this godforsaken day, really.
Just. Looking between Norton, Moriarty, and what they’re fighting over and raising his eyes to the heavens for a moment. Does he spot anything odd about the wall along the way or should I have him wall-stare harder.]
no subject
I have no idea, I just got up a while ago, he wanted me to climb this thing [ gestures at the rope here ], It's not even tied to anything except maybe a dead body? I don't fucking know either, the jackass isn't saying anything!
[ He takes a beat to breathe. ]
Anything else you wanna know?!
no subject
Otherwise he just shakes his head, briefly.]
Please, take some time and a few more breaths. Many act oddly in a situation like this, and we may question William on his motivations at a later time.
My first priority is to wrap up the investigation so that the body may be safely recovered, but I thank you for trying to help, it seems, regardless. If you’d like, I can take it from here.
[Well, his voice is soothing, at least — even though his expression is mildly distracted. He’s a little torn between duties, all things considered.]

But hey, if he's looking towards the heavens, perhaps they'll answer his call with, uh. Well, he'll see a chimney, if you discount the climbing party that's happening in the neighboring thread.]
no subject
He will have to try not to get underfoot with all the climbers, and so he’ll stay on the ground for now, moving to slightly different angles on the chimney. Anything unusual about it, or is he going to have to join the Trellis circus troupe??]
