CHAPTER 5
CHAPTER 5
Almost half of the non-fairy population of Aira Niluc is gone.
Some may be feeling the absence of their fellow participants in this story. Others will stay focused on the wish they want to get. What never changes is that the story goes on, bringing you closer to the end -- and to another chapter. What will it bring this time?
Snow!
Snow as far as the eye can see, a cold blanket covering the new area. Some winter amenities are now available, ready for perusal! But that's not all there's to find: everyone also will find reminders of their homes, of people they know, of happier times.
Of their wishes.
Who will try to reach their wish this time?
[[Welcome to Week 5! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure.
In addition, a reminder that any Murder Proposals for this week are due by Tuesday 3:00 PM EST/12:00 PM PST! However, please note that you have the option of submitting murder proposals for a later week as well.]]

THIS SEEMS CURSED.
Jack makes an extremely unsure face here, even as he's reflexively thanking Yuri for her help with hair....... he was going to try poking it with his hand next but y'know what, let's. Not do that. Nope!!!]
Um, it seems like it is rather large, but we can use the sticks to loosen it. And hopefully, things like this will float... I think.
[Unsure if the 'I think' was for the strategy or for the fact that he's really not sure if he wants it to float......... whenever Yuri's ready though they can attempt this I guess..................]
no subject
OK, well, it looks like they will be blindly poking their sticks into the chocolate to... loosen up this Yuri-sized maybe!not!corpse!!
Once they do that, will the item float? If not... will they have to drag it? Good thing she has gloves for them, she guesses... unsure... She should have brought a person-sized burlap bag god ]
... I'm............. ready............. I hope this is worth the effort....

A big bubble forms in the chocolate river before your treasure floats to the surface with a very loud *bloop*, revealing its form to the world. It's a corpse!
Or not. It's cylindrical, colorful, and very soft.
It's a marshmallow, yay! The marshmallow floats up, so large someone could cling to it and float along, and starts being carried away by the current.
Still, while they were trying to dislodge it, they'd feel the sticks prod something far harder encased inside the marshmallow. Better catch up to this sweet thing before it floats downstream!]

[What color is this marshmallow, I need to know this!!!
At least it's nice and fluffy, though that makes grabbing onto it rather hard -- luckily they're not holding hands at this point, so Jack has one hand free to like, throw himself at the marshmallow and do his best to sort of, put the front end of it under his arm?? His stick can help him keep his balance, though he flails a little.]
Ah, Miss Yuri, if you can get... the other side...
[Good thing there's two of them because otherwise one of them would have probably spent the rest of the day stuck on a marshmallow raft or something.]
no subject
ANYWAY.
She tries to hold onto the other end as requested, though it is a struggle because she is much shorter than him. ]
What if... [ Huff. ] ... we pierce the marshmallow with the sticks and kind of... steer it to the edge?
[ And hopefully that will help them keep their balance as well. She's kind of ready to stab something? Please say yes. ]
no subject
[He’s not quite as out of breath as Yuri though this is a little taxing and also keeping his balance really is a constantly evolving battle given how… wiggly… this marshmallow insists on being.
But yes, it is time to STAB, and therefore Jack picks what looks like a good spot to his side of the marshmallow that hopefully isn’t too blocked by whatever’s inside — it’s time for the Marshmallow Mash.]
All right. Let me know when your side is secure, and then we can get out of this river.
[This is just way too much chocolate even for anyone with a sweet tooth. They are going to be smelling of chocolate the entire meeting.]
no subject
Once that's done, she'll work with him to slowly, but surely steer the marshmallow to the river's edge. Hopefully it's a smooth walk and hopefully the combined weight of the marshmallow + [thing] won't be too much of a struggle to lift out of the river. ]
It's a good thing you found us these sticks.
no subject
Thankfully it's a relatively smooth walk! As smooth as dragging a marshmallow through a river of chocolate can be, at least, but soon Yuri and Jack manage to take it to the shore. You have obtained a giant marshmallow! This is cause for celebration! This big thing will need a big bonfire, eh?
Still...given something is in there, could it be too early to celebrate?]
no subject
So they'll have a very festive time somehow freeing the marshmallow from chocolate purgatory -- by the time they're done Jack is probably out of breath too, so they can both take a bit of a rest and also like. Get some of this chocolate off before it sticks too badly. Maybe he'll just... abandon this shirt... but no, we're not doing marshmallow things topless for the moment.
Now that the grass and whatever else is also chocolatey, Jack will reach out to prod the marshmallow again. Can they see anything through the holes they stabbed in it??]
Hmm, do you think we'll be able to remove all the marshmallow with just the two of us?
It seems a pity to waste it, all the same.
[Maybe they can just. Gather all the marshmallow together! For bonfires. But let's see what's inside first.]
no subject
Do you suppose we could just peel off the outer layer? [ Like, you know, peely Tw*zzlers, except she doesn't know because she's not hip or modern or a 90s baby. Still, that seems like an idea that could potentially work, right?? ]
We can save the good pieces in the burlap sack.
[ Finally!! A use for it!!
But yes, can they undress The Fanciest Marshmallow? ]
no subject
One is a round, large object -- well, you can't see it in its entirety but given the curve you see it isn't hard to guess it's round.
The other thing is a person-shaped thing. Of course, that also means it's person-sized as well. It's surrounded by many, many objects that aren't marshmallow, that's for sure.
And also what seems to be three or four more layers of marshmallow, like a nice, soft marshmallow matryoshka. You can never say Aira Niluc doesn't have wonders! Thankfully peeling the stuff of is doable! That should make reaching the center much easier]
no subject
Seriously, though, why are there so many things inside this marshmallow?? Is this the Tardis? Is it the Tardis as a literal marshmallow and somehow bigger on the inside-- Okay, actually seriously, what are the objects surrounding personthing that aren't marshmallow..... Jack will give this marshmallow some hella side-eye but nod seriously to Yuri's suggestion for now.]
Miss Yuri is a true problem solver. This marshmallow's interior looks stranger than any other marshmallow I've ever encountered, but I suppose I've never encountered a chocolate river either... So...
[How should he finish this sentence. He's just going to grab one of the layers and start tugging, but like. Carefully. So whatever's inside doesn't come popping or flying out. Jeez.]
no subject
Yuri will also grab a marshmallow tentacle and pull... gently... carefully... She is mostly worried that pulling too hard will rip out non-marshmallow parts. And also: serious second thoughts about saving this stuff for later?? ]
I, um, don't think I have any words for what we're doing or what's happening at the moment. I'm not sure this isn't a dream?
[ Or a nightmare, honestly. ]
no subject
And there it is.
Looks like the objects that were all over the place inside were chocolate coins with gold foil.
Looks like the round object was, well...decide what's your favorite flavor! It's so big and deliciously sweet.
Looks like the person-shaped object is a person made of gummy. At least it's not horrifying in the slightest!
All in all, this is a joyful treasure. That's it!]
no subject
[I can't believe this was just innocuous candyception.
Jack also can't believe it, since he eyes the contents of the marshmallow gummy coffin(??) for a while longer, a little dubiously, before gently laying everything out. There is so much oversized candy here, what are they going to do with it all.
After everything, are they going to eat it!!!!!]
Do you suppose we should report this to everyone else? I am not sure how, I admit.
[How do they... tell anyone about this.]
no subject
Slowly: ]
... I suppose we should. Some time tonight? I do wonder why the dead told us about this treasure - it doesn't seem very useful?
[ She'll take a chocolate coin or two. As payment for all her hard work this morning. ]
