Almost half of the non-fairy population of Aira Niluc is gone.

Some may be feeling the absence of their fellow participants in this story. Others will stay focused on the wish they want to get. What never changes is that the story goes on, bringing you closer to the end -- and to another chapter. What will it bring this time?

Snow!

Snow as far as the eye can see, a cold blanket covering the new area. Some winter amenities are now available, ready for perusal! But that's not all there's to find: everyone also will find reminders of their homes, of people they know, of happier times.

Of their wishes.

[It takes him a while but eventually he manages; it's taken him a long time of staring at... Well, he's been staring at more dead people, bluntly put, but it's the people that they've lost here - it's enough to be grounding, though it's hard to say whether it's through remembrance or just through getting him to hate himself deeply enough for acting out.

He isn't expecting Raven here, and when he sees him there's a sharp exhale, a brief wordless "why" that he doesn't manage to keep in check before it happens, but at least he'll enter the room rather than just hovering in the doorway.]

I didn't ask for any of this. You don't have to.

[Raven looks up from what he's doing, which is sweeping more shards into a dustbin.]

I know. I wanted to, though. [He nods toward the food.] Ya looked like garbage at the meetin' so I thought you could use a decent meal, but when I came by I found yer door open and the mess, so...

[He realizes that he's rambling and awkwardly trails off there.]

I'm...not surprised it's hittin' ya hard too.

[ideismo]

[He doesn't flinch from the blunt remarks involving the meeting, but just the same... He shakes his head a bit once all of that is out there.]

Fortunately enough, I'm disinterested in lashing out like that again. It's nothing for you to be concerned about, at any rate.

[He isn't sure why, but it was...easier to talk about this with the others. This is just getting him to freeze up, despite knowing that he should just shake it the hell off.]

[reallyfishy]

[That's not quite what he was expecting, and it shows on his face.]

Are you certain? [His speech shifts quickly this time.] Sir, this is...

[He glances back down at the mirror shards still remaining, and the sword that he neatly set back where it's usually kept.

He does his best to choose his words carefully.]

I find it difficult to not be concerned.

It's fine.

[He'll at least come sit on the bed instead of just standing where he is; he doesn't move to touch the food at all, but he's at least not just standing there being weird and tense at nothing.]

...Seeing them has been difficult, that's all. Clearly I underestimated how much so.

[reallyfishy]

[He takes a deep breath, and pushes his concern down so he can take Alexei at his word.]

I understand completely.

[He turns back so he can continue sweeping up the shards.]

I've seen them too. If I had to guess, we've probably had some overlap in our visions...

It would surprise me more if we hadn't.

[There's something odd in his tone, as though he's trying to force the feeling out of it. It's deliberate, poorly-controlled but intentional; this isn't something he's willing to start doing again now.]

I just needed it to stop, that's all. I came in here and it started immediately.

So you put an end to it by any means.

[Throwing a sword and breaking the mirror is definitely one way to do it. Even so, that's...such an emotionally charged reaction, completely unfitting for Alexei. It takes all of Raven's willpower to keep that concern stuffed down.]

They won't bother you again, at least not tonight. I'll make sure of it.

[He goes quiet for a moment at that, letting his eyes drift closed for a moment while he collects himself a bit more; this whole business is ugly, and it's unbecoming, and...

He doesn't understand why things are happening this way, why his control has fallen this far; the fucking Council would have a field day with him, if they could see him now.

The Council...

When his eyes drift open again, his gaze is aimless.]

...It was the ones who died at the old headquarters. Before we were stationed out of the castle. They're the ones I saw this time.

[The ones he saw turn to ash when the explosion went off. The ones that- ]

Sometimes it's them. Sometimes it's Casey and her brigade. Those that I've failed, always.
