Almost half of the non-fairy population of Aira Niluc is gone.

Some may be feeling the absence of their fellow participants in this story. Others will stay focused on the wish they want to get. What never changes is that the story goes on, bringing you closer to the end -- and to another chapter. What will it bring this time?

Snow!

Snow as far as the eye can see, a cold blanket covering the new area. Some winter amenities are now available, ready for perusal! But that's not all there's to find: everyone also will find reminders of their homes, of people they know, of happier times.

[ She's about to tell him that she's can take care of it herself, but opening it slightly sends a shot of pain up her arm, and she winces. Punching a mirror generally isn't one of the best ideas, as she's coming to realize. She looks down and sees that its bleeding pretty good.

She sighs, and nods. ]

If you wouldn't mind.

[ It's not like he hasn't already seen her punch the mirror, pretending otherwise would be kind of stupid. ]

I wouldn't.

[Alright, let's take a look here... ouch, punching a mirror doesn't seem very good for your hand here. How bad is the injury looking, since Morgan's a fairy person and I don't know how badly this would cut up her hand??]

[ She got shoved through a TV screen and walked away with only that big gash in the one icon, so? It's probably not as bad as it could be, considering, but given her own strength and just the point of contact, there's some solid cuts and is bleeding pretty good, probably? the mirror absolutely looks worse lmao

She'll give him her hand with little complaint, though. ]

I would recommend avoiding the mirrors, if you haven't figured that out by now.

[ ............. it's really hard to tell with her level tone if she's trying to crack a joke or not. ]

[bless fairies and their ability to break mirrors with their fists!!!]

[Anyway, now that he's assessed the damage!!]

This isn't nearly as bad as it could have been, so you're quite lucky there! Do you know how to properly treat it, or would you like me to assist with that?

[It's not like he's carrying around bandages or anything, so we'll have to take a trip to go see what supplies we can find, but he's certainly unopposed to helping out!]

[ it's not like any of the other ones here are doing their jobs!!!!

She just kind of. Looks at her hand and sighs. ]

If you're able to, I would appreciate the help.

[ Like, she could probably get it sort of done okay on her own, but it's probably easier this way. Especially if he's offering. Though... yeah, the only real first aid supplies she knows about is... ]

The apothecary should have some bandages, I think.

[ Which is a mild walk, but. She'd be going there anyway, so... ]

Ja, of course. I'll accompany you, then!

[So let's get walking!! He's absolutely handing Morgan a handkerchief to at least temporarily cover the injuries so she doesn't have to worry about getting sand in them.

But anyway, as we're walking...]

I don't mean to pry... but who did you see in the mirror?

[i mean he is clearly meaning to pry but like. it's more polite if he words it like that, obviously???]

[ She nods with a quiet "thank you" as she takes the handkerchief and covers up her hand as best as she can.

She keeps her gaze forward when he asks that, focusing on where they're going. She knows he's sort of prying, but. It's kind of hard not to when someone just goes and breaks shit. It's fine. ]

Someone I haven't seen in a very long time. [ pause ] It just... took me by surprise.

[ When she was talking to the mirror when he came in, it sounded like it was someone she was honestly expecting to see, so he wouldn't be wrong if he wasn't a lil sus about it. She doesn't seem to be lying, though, just... the other person is a whole other story. ]

[He raises an eyebrow at that, considering what he saw from the brief glimpse as he entered before Morgan smashed a mirror, as you do.]

Did someone else appear? I thought I overheard you talking to the mirror as though you didn't mind the person it was showing.

[Or at least didn't mind their presence that much. So maybe there was someone else or maybe she thought it would be someone else reflected there??]

... So you heard that.

[ She doesn't sound overly surprised about that? Maybe a little disappointed, but not necessarily shocked. It's definitely not the first time she's randomly talked to invisible people seemingly with no warning. ]

Someone I've been working with, before coming here. I only saw him, at first.

[ Then the subsequent surprise appearance, followed by the mirror smashing. ]

[Ah, so it was a second person then. That makes sense. Yeager nods at that and lets that part of it go.]

The other person... Is it someone you didn't want to see?

[Or someone you do want to see, just not like this, because he could see it going either way.]

[ Morgan shakes her head at that. ]

No, it's not that. The opposite, actually. [ pause ] We were separated a long time ago. I can't even tell how long its been since I last saw him.

[ Yeager's just gonna have to deal with the pronoun game here, only one of the men she sees actually has a name, and its not the one they're currently talking about. ]

[gotta love that "canon did not give me this information" life...]

I see. [He thinks, anyway!!] A reminder of him here after so long... Well, I can understand why it was startling and upsetting!

Will you be okay?

[It's a silly question all things considered, but hey, it's out there anyway.]

[ you have no idea lmfao i am in constant pain

She nods. ]

... I think so. [ She's not confident, but it's all she's got right now. ] I don't think you have to worry about me breaking any more mirrors, at least.

[ Alexei will be taking up that job I guess????? ]

[it's the worst mood!!]

That's good, though I do have to wonder how many mirrors have been broken this week...

[seven years bad luck for everyone in the game, f]

Anyway, here we are! Give me a moment to see what I can find.

[The apothecary!! Yeager's going to wander off to find some bandages and whatever basic first aid supplies we have to take care of Morgan's hand, so give him a bit while I handwave this!!]

[ Despite herself, she chuckles quietly. ]

I imagine a fair few.

[ She doesn't mind standing off to the side as Yeager does whatever he needs to do to get what he needs. ]

Have you been seeing anything in the mirrors?

[Here we go, hold out your hand and he'll get started!!]

I've been lucky and only witnessed one instance, so far. It was my daughters.

[He says it simply enough, but like. Yeah, it wasn't fun. It could've been way worse, but that doesn't mean that he enjoyed it.]

While I certainly would like to see them again, I'd prefer they not be used against me like that.

[ She gives him her hand with little complaint, gently peeling the handkerchief off where it may be sticking with the open wound. She'll get this washed, she swears. ]

I understand what you mean. It's... not exactly fair, using that.

[ She tilts her head slightly. ]

I don't mean to be rude, but you don't strike me as the type who would be interested in having a family.

[The apothecary probably has a sink in here, c'mon, let's get that cleaned up first!!]

You're certainly correct, I didn't exactly intend on having a family!

[...yeah, he knows how that sounds, no he doesn't care, but after a moment he elaborates anyway.]

Gauche and Droite were orphans; their parents died ten years ago during the Great War. I met them some time after that, when I was traveling. The orphanage they were staying it was running dreadfully low on funds, and the girls had taken to selling flowers to try to help out.

...And also stealing, which is how we met. I started funding the orphanage personally after that, but it didn't take long at all before those two attached themselves to me and refused to let go.

[He words it like that, but he looks very fond when he speaks of them.]

So I made if official and took them in.

[He's going to work on the bandaging and salve treatments so he doesn't have to look at Morgan while he works because it's kind of embarrassing actually talking about it!!]

[ eh, she gets it. it's fine.

She listens to him quietly as he works on her hand. The war bit is concerning, but... the rest of it seems to line up with him, at least from what she's gathered. The fondness on his face, even if it's focused elsewhere, says a lot.

She nods. ]

It sounds like they are lucky to have you, then. And I imagine the inverse is true.

[ There might a slight smile, but he'll never know because he's looking down!!!! ]

[That gets a soft laugh from him as he finishes up.]

More than I realized, I think.

[If this place has been good for one thing, it's self-reflection. Which is horrible, he hates it here!!!!]

I look forward to returning to them, though I don't have to be too worried about them in the meantime. They're strong and clever, they'll know to be careful while I'm away.
