Almost half of the non-fairy population of Aira Niluc is gone.

Some may be feeling the absence of their fellow participants in this story. Others will stay focused on the wish they want to get. What never changes is that the story goes on, bringing you closer to the end -- and to another chapter. What will it bring this time?

Snow!

Snow as far as the eye can see, a cold blanket covering the new area. Some winter amenities are now available, ready for perusal! But that's not all there's to find: everyone also will find reminders of their homes, of people they know, of happier times.

Of their wishes.

I don't know. It's possible it was a monster of some kind; we do have a few overly-powerful ones. Or it could have been one of the Entelexeia, they're said to have power bordering on the divine. I wouldn't be surprised if something like that seemed to be an insurmountable fight for people back then.

[But not anymore.]

There aren't any descriptions of it, unfortunately. I've looked.

...Hmm, I can believe that it could be a monster or something else.

[ He's been thinking it's some kind of big event, not exactly a monster. But it makes sense for it to be one too or some type of other creature. ]

Though, I'm not sure an Entelexeia is? You said they have enough power to border on the divine, but they are not monsters?

[...How does one explain the Entelexeia. Good fucking god. Lum are you enjoying doing this to me for once. Do you like being the one who causes this.]

Think of it as somewhat similar to how Pericles is a person, but he's also a bird. The Entelexeia are monsters, but they're also their own sentient race.

Anyway, he's also listening to this carefully...thinking about it. And now he's imagining a lot of Pericles-sized beings. Yep, absolutely. ]

Oh, so they can communicate with humans, then? And I am guessing they're not the same size as Pericles, because...well, that'd make things difficult for them, probably.

[...dear god.]

They're far larger than people - far larger than other monsters, really. We went to war with them a few years ago; they destroyed a good portion of humanity. Our numbers are incredibly low now by comparison.

W-what?!

[ Oh dear. ]

Why was there a war with them? Just...out of curiosity.

[ He's suddenly glad there's nothing really like that back in his world. ]

They attacked us. When a species like that decides to go to war with you, you don't have much choice - you fight them, or you die.

[biyishuangfei]

[ ...yikes! ]

Oh, I can...easily see that being true, given the way you described them to me in the first place. They never gave you any reason at all, though? Just attacked one day out of the blue?

They decided we were causing more problems than we solved.

That's...

Well, I certainly can't imagine that happening back in my world. It sounds completely unreasonable, just to go that far without even talking it out first.

[ But it's not surprising he didn't find those actions understandable. ]

"Unreasonable" is one way of putting it.

We were able to fight back well enough that we weren't all destroyed. That's about all that can be said.

[ He'll blink, and then turn his attention from the other man back towards the candles assembled. ]

... That aside, I did want to say I appreciated the set up you made here. I know we had been discussing this and I mentioned it as an option, but it's nice to see it personally.

...Of course, Huaisang. I appreciated the suggestion, so of course I was going to implement it.

I'm glad...sometimes it's the little things that can mean the most, even if you know that already. [ ... ] And, well, I think I'm going to keep looking around at what else the new area has revealed.

[ His gaze flicks from the candles back to Alexei. ]

[ Huaisang will turn his back and make his exit (though he makes sure to wait if the other had any parting words before he does because he has manners.) ]
