Almost half of the non-fairy population of Aira Niluc is gone.

Some may be feeling the absence of their fellow participants in this story. Others will stay focused on the wish they want to get. What never changes is that the story goes on, bringing you closer to the end -- and to another chapter. What will it bring this time?

Snow!

Snow as far as the eye can see, a cold blanket covering the new area. Some winter amenities are now available, ready for perusal! But that's not all there's to find: everyone also will find reminders of their homes, of people they know, of happier times.

Of their wishes.

Who will try to reach their wish this time?

[His tone is likewise rather devoid of emotion when he responds; even and unagitated, though he's keeping his attention on the small flickers of light before him.]

I'm not. Even if I were to acknowledge the existence of the Goddess, she has a habit of ignoring her children.

[crimson_flamel]

[She smiles a ghost of a smile, the only humor in it bitter.]

She does, indeed. Makes one wonder if she was ever truly listening.

[The smile disappears, and she too gets lost in the flames, seeing the faint flickers of those she lost behind them.]

It's been years since I've prayed, but I hope they can find peace. All of them.

[Even you, Zola.]

You have my apologies, incidentally. For being combative.

[She crosses her arms, consideringly, scratching her chin. Her eyes don't leave the flames.]

I don't believe apologies are necessary. You spoke your mind, and I spoke mine. I think we can both agree that we got off on the wrong foot. All that we can do is continue on a better one, hm?

It seems we're on the same side, at any rate. I only hope we can work together going forward.

That seems fair, though I do hold by having offered it in the first place.

I do hope for the same, however. Not least of which because our numbers are suffering. I can't say I know when this "story" of Hamelin's ends, but I dislike the current trend.

[crimson_flamel]

The way that this twisted game has been performed like an elaborate opera... as distasteful as it is, it does lead me to believe that it won't end with all of us dwindling out. It feels like we're nearing the end, but I can't really be sure. But even in the bleakest of tragedies, the villain doesn't get a happy ending either.

Hamelin should keep that in mind.

[Especially after she'd so politely reminded him.]

There's few people we can trust with traitors in our ranks, at any rate.

...Moriarty mentioned allies. I feel that's something that we should keep in mind as well. Though I wouldn't call him a traitor, specifically.

[While we're talking about that sort of thing.]

Yes, indeed. And the dead were rather fixated on him. Then there's the matter of Norton's motivation. Perhaps he discovered Moriarty.

It seems as if he was on our side, ultimately. And Hamelin seemed to have a personal distaste for him, so he continues to have a measure of my respect, at least. I hope the truth of the matter comes to light, at any rate.

[And if Moriarty was one of them, he'd know the identity of the other.]

There are others.

[He says, with absolute certainty of what he's saying. Gaze still fixed on the flames.]

We aren't alone here. There are others that are trying to help the group as a whole.

[crimson_flamel]

Among the group? Or outside of it?

Regardless, I agree. And it is with certainty that I believe that they are all worth saving.

[Her gaze softens, staring at the fires still, and thinking of those they've lost and those she felt unable to save.]

Both.

[And that's all, with that in mind, for now.]

I won't disagree with you; I don't hold anything that these people may have done against them. It isn't my place to condemn, or to tell them that their actions weren't worth it; I have no interest in trying to decide that, or in holding my decision over them.

I hate no one here. I just dislike being unable to do anything for them.

[crimson_flamel]

[Huh. She might ask about that in a less melancholy setting.

Inaction has always made Edelgard furious, especially when it's being forced on her. She is, at her core, with both her greatest qualities and her ugliest flaws,]

This game is rigged in favour of those who will kill at every turn. The sleeping song makes sure of that, and Hamelin has all the power, even outside of that. But I can't accept that there's nothing we can do, even if the opportunity isn't there yet... well. All we can do is try.

We owe that much to those we've lost.

[And she made a promise to Rika.]

Absolutely. I'm not unfamiliar with that being the case - with odds being stacked and with the only option left being to try.

This is just one situation out of many for me. I'll manage with what I have to work with.
