INVESTIGATION IV

Unlike last week, the seventh hour of the night passes without any incident. Maybe it's enough to prevent as many terrible sleeping positions as last week, but an hour later your good luck is upended.

You rise with the sun again, although this time it's a good measure ahead of you. Today is another Friday, and you know what those bring by now.

The time is 6:00 AM.

[ Well, as long as we're over this way!! Anything notable when walking into the store and giving it a quick once-over, or do we have to go back to the workshop to find anything? ]

[ Nothing is immediately off on the way there or when Phil first steps inside.

The birdapault is unharmed \o/. ]

[ Well thank god for that!!

Okay, into the workshop then. At least he should be able to notice anything out of place since he's investigated and inventoried this place before! How are the tools looking? ]

[ The tools for the most part are looking good, but one of the saws looks a bit odd. ]

[ mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Okay, odd how? Is there anything on it, is it bent out of shape or something? ]

[faentasy]

[ Well the teeth on it are jagged and uneven compared to the smoother, sharper saws on the shelf. ]

[biqe]

[ Cool, that's ominous. Does it look clean otherwise? No spots or prints or anything on the blade or handle? ]

[faentasy]

[ Yup, it is clean otherwise! ]

[biqe]

[ Probably shouldn't carry a saw around, but he guesses he will just in case/so it can be replaced by one that wasn't presumably used in a murder!!

Any other tools looking off at all? How about the rest of the non-tool supplies... rope, etc.? ]

[ +1 saw! All the other tools look like they're in pristine condition. The non-tool supplies are also looking pretty good. How is he checking out the non-tool area, though? ]

[ He's just kind of leaning in and looking closely at everything for signs of anything out of place, anything different since Birdapult Hours... hopefully after temporarily setting the saw aside so we don't lose another leg today! ]

[ I would say RIP but perhaps that is too soon.

And well it's not really out of place or different, but in his leaning and poking around that area he'll see there's something in the garbage. ]

[ Oh boy, what's in the garbage. Does he need to get a yardstick or something to poke it... is this a bag or a trash can, idek ]

[ It's a trashcan! And as for what he can see... well it's not all that ominous, it looks to just be a package of something wrapped in paper. ]

Well, he is less hesitant than I am, so okay, let's.... pull up a corner of that paper wrapping and see if we can tell what's in here... ]

The corner reveals...a small corner of somewhat white fabric that is stained with blood. ]

Just... carefully (and with some difficulty because look at him) turns the trash can onto its side on the floor so he can pull that paper corner to try to drag this cursed mystery item out without dropping whatever is in there... ]

[ It's a pretty easy job actually, as the wrapped mystery item isn't all that heavy actually. And now that he's got it out of the trashcan it's pretty neatly wrapped too? It's just about short of a perfect square.

There is nothing else in the trashcan, by the grace of slowy. ]

[ Oh. That could have been worse.

...Is it, like, notably nice wrapping? Enough to potentially be a clue itself so maybe he shouldn't open it right now? ]

[ It's decently wrapped? We're not talking about like, the level you get at fancy card stores likes Papyrus here but it's not as if there's anything poking out the edges (beside the piece of bloodied fabric from the unwrapped corner). ]

[ I mean, YOU SAW HOW HALF OF US MADE BEDS LAST WEEK...

but ehhhhhh okay, probably wouldn't narrow it down that much, so whatever, we'll unwrap the rest of it. ]

[ I can't believe we almost had a gift wrapping check at trial?

Unwrapping it yields: strips of white bloody fabric. It's pretty thoroughly saturated with blood, so yikes. ]

[ IT WAS VERY CLOSE

Oof. What kind of fabric does it look like? Is it a recognizable fiber type (like linen vs. suiting or something)? Clothing fabric, not upholstery? ]

[faentasy]

[ It is linen and clothing fabric! ]

[ And what kind of paper was the wrapping? Was that identifiable as having come from anywhere?

Also roughly how much how fabric is this overall/how big was the package? ]
