AFTERPARTY III: Never Have I Ever Been Quite This Drunk

[There's absolutely nothing celebratory about this drinking party. "Party" isn't even the right word, not really-- it's more like a "drink until you forget and/or black out" session for anyone who wants to participate, and even the bartender isn't immune from that much. Please forgive him if your drink isn't mixed quite right; he's trying his best under the circumstances.

There's food, too, if anyone wants to attempt to stave off a hangover tomorrow, or just get something in their stomach after the events of the day: stirfry from Makoto, vegetable soup from Nageki (mediocre, but hey, a genuine effort was made and that's what counts), and some tea for those who would rather abstain from the harder stuff. (Is that even many people tonight? Probably not.)

Come on by the bar if you're hungry or want a drink, or even if you just don't want to be alone right now. That much, at least, is something that can be guaranteed tonight.]

[Rika walks over to the bar, hoping to secure a bottle of wine for herself, but she physically deflates seeing how many people there are. Another party, huh?]

Of course...like clockwork.

[She sighs, heading towards the back to get her wine. She looks about as dour as anyone else.]

Fairy Sweet Park

[Rika cuts out of the actual bar, taking her wine bottle and glass to a picnic table to drink by herself at night. This is the way she's used to having her wine.]

[ Makoto needed his own breather, hadn't expected to see anyone else out here if he's honest. A cigarette in one hand and a cup in the other, he slows before he makes it too close to pretend he hasn't seen her when recognition hits in the dark. ]

Ah, should you really--[ He stops the sentence short. No, he's not really going to follow through on his first instinct. With a shake of his head-- ]

Sorry, mind if I join you?

[Rika's eyes start to narrow as Makoto first asks, but once he elects to drop it, she relaxes. She may be somewhat used to people questioning her drinking habits here, but one of the people who did that is a parrot currently as drunk as a parrot can get and the other is a dead liar. It's better that Makoto not question her.]

...no, you can. I can't promise I'll be the best conversation partner, but I won't shoo you away.

[ No, no, his questioning is done. Kid or not, she's stuck here too. With her acceptance, he puts out the cigarette, pressing it into his cup.

He sits himself opposite her, his cup beside him, before he responds. ]

That's okay. It's usually better to have company, even if you don't feel like talking.

Hmm. I guess I wouldn't know. I usually drink alone, since...well, my friends would probably stage an intervention otherwise.

Oh. Well, I guess you'll find out tonight. And... I can't really blame you for drinking here, if it helps dealing with all of this.

[ Makoto drops his chin onto his palm, expression tinged with some concern that might not be evident in the dark. Judgment, however, is absent. ]
