AFTERPARTY III: Never Have I Ever Been Quite This Drunk

[There's absolutely nothing celebratory about this drinking party. "Party" isn't even the right word, not really-- it's more like a "drink until you forget and/or black out" session for anyone who wants to participate, and even the bartender isn't immune from that much. Please forgive him if your drink isn't mixed quite right; he's trying his best under the circumstances.

There's food, too, if anyone wants to attempt to stave off a hangover tomorrow, or just get something in their stomach after the events of the day: stirfry from Makoto, vegetable soup from Nageki (mediocre, but hey, a genuine effort was made and that's what counts), and some tea for those who would rather abstain from the harder stuff. (Is that even many people tonight? Probably not.)

Come on by the bar if you're hungry or want a drink, or even if you just don't want to be alone right now. That much, at least, is something that can be guaranteed tonight.]

[ That's a pretty calm reaction and hearing the laughter makes him huff in dry amusement himself. ]

Even if you told me, at this rate who knows if you'd just be lying? Not that I wouldn't be willing to listen, but I think we're all starting to understand how unreliable the others are as a source.

A fair answer. [ ultimately, sort of a shame since that might be what Hamelin wants, but. ehhnn. ] I suppose we should have expected more from Yor. I truly feel blindsided...how atrocious.

Speaking honestly, I found it more startling how she did it compared to doing it at all. Nobody here is entirely above becoming a killer, but that degree of calculation... it seemed impossible for somebody like her to achieve.

[ How much had she been playing dumb all along? It was a convincing act, probably the most convincing he's ever seen. That amount of naiveté takes effort to portray, surely. ]

Perhaps she was genuine with us, but also had goals she wished to achieve. I do not find that line of behavior unheard of.

Oh, I certainly don't discount that possibility. I do think it's likely that at least some of her behaviour was entirely truthful.

But with the amount of intellect she exhibited... I would have thought that whole plan with the Echo Houses to be entirely beyond her.

[ Then again, apparently she DID get decent grades in school too... maybe perpetual confusion was just part of her normal face?? ]

Ah, that. [ she frowns again. ] Evidently, it was not. Your assessment in not underestimating any of the others in such a way is correct, anyhow. The lot of us did as much and suffered the consequences for it.

Maybe she has done us a favor in that regard, though that is quite morbid to say. Everyone in the group is quite aware now that everyone here is capable of murder.

Maybe it will speed up our discussions should it come to another trial.

[ Though he phrases it as a hypothetical, that is more for courtesy... he's sure it will occur. ]
