INVESTIGATION III

Some days are long and some days are short. If this wasn't the third week of your stay, perhaps you might think that exhaustion had crept in from Wednesday's nights activities. But you know better than that by now.

Consciousness comes to you groggily, perhaps uncomfortably depending where you were when sleep suddenly took hold of you. While the world stands on the verge of awakening as the horizon blazes with a fiery glow, the sky remains a navy blue where you are.

The time is 5:00 AM. You could return to your slumber, but do you really think third time's the charm?

[Edelgard knows she's not the best suited to investigate the body itself, so instead she'll try to investigate the wreckage around it.

Does she find anything interesting?]

[Boy is there stuff around here, Edelgard.

Starting with the puddle of bloody water around the body. Careful not to step on that -- although really, with all the objects on that puddle, it'd be hard to stand there anyway]

[She'll make a note of it. Hopefully it's not as deep and scary as the ocean!! Anyway, she'll start to look through the stuff in the puddle for anything of note, like a potential weapon or a delicious pastry.]

[Edelgard, if you'd eat wet pastries you find like two feet from a corpse you really need to find Jesus, go read more of that bible.

Thankfully she won't have to, because all she'll find in this stuff are objects she has seen in this general store before. For the most part it really looks like stuff that once used to be on that broken shelf on the floor Wuxian's body is on now...

...with one exception: an umbrella. The umbrellas of this store are nowhere close to this part of the location. Hm!]

[She wouldn't eat them! She would mourn their loss.

She'll examine the umbrella more closely. Are there any signs of damage, or anything to identify it's origin?]

[The origin seems to be pretty obvious: there are other umbrellas at the other end of the store. Looks pretty much identical to a couple of those over there!

Currently the umbrella is closed. Do traces of blood count as damage, Edelgard? Because if so, then there's damage in the form of traces of blood on the hook handle]

[It does! She will open it up!]

[Edelgard has received bad luck. Never open umbrellas indoors!

Nothing falls from the umbrella nor appears. The inside of the umbrella looks fine, nothing to report. If she looks at the outside, though, she'll see some blood on the canopy. It probably was hard to see it before when it was closed, but now that it's open? It's clear as day, this is blood.

Other than that looks like opening it revealed no new evidence]

[She doesn't believe in luck. She'll make her own fortune because she's a melodramatic hoe.

But very well, she thinks she's learned everything there is to learn about this umbrella. Can she find anything else of note scattered on the floor?]

There doesn't seem to be anything on the floor -- however this all certainly isn't over. From the corner of her eye Edelgard perhaps will see something upwards, towards the ceiling. Oh!]

[IS IT A BIRD. IS IT A PLANE??]

[Neither! It's robes. Aha! Robes anyone would identify as Wuxian's, draped over the second beam from the entrance of the store. Looks like it's not the only object up there!]

[Okay, time to... find a way up there. She'll try to ask look around for something stable enough to climb.]

[Ah, such is the curse of lacking in height. Lo and behold behind the counter, a convenient and sturdy-looking chair to stand on. That'll help!]

[Chair! Today you will serve the Adrestian Empire!

Time to climb up and find what else is up there.]

[The chair swears allegiance to the Adrestian Empire and gains a spot in the lowest ranks. With hard work perhaps someday it'll reach the echelons of the elite of the furniture, but only after countless years of service. Such is life.

For now, let's see what's to be found. As mentioned before there's the robes draped on it, but Edelgard will be able to see right away a glass water bottle and a rag up there, and the tip of...something sharp-looking, peeking from over the beam. Careful when reaching at that, don't get cut]

[Time to carefully grab everything and bring it back down where she can examine it properly. And to carefully avoid having a knife land on her head and murder her.

Her life isn't worth completing that knife's wish, thank you very much.]

[Everything is safely brought to the floor. Edelgard now finds herself looking at robes that very obviously belonged to Wuxian, a stiletto knife, and a glass bottle with droplets of water inside and a wet rag.

Information abounds! Where shall we start?]

[First of all... she looks closer at the knife. Does it look like one of Yor's?]

[Ah, once she takes a look she'll find out that it turns out...yes! Actually yes! This stiletto knife does look like one of Yor's]

[So the murders are connected. That should make thins easier.

Is there any sign of use? And if not, does it look, smell and feel like it's been cleaned recently?]

[faentasy]

[On the contrary, mon cheri, this knife is really dirty. Alarmingly so.

Not only there's blood, there also are globules of some sort of a dark, viscid paste on the blade. Supposing that she smells it after seeing how blatantly unclean this knife is, she'll find that besides the smell of blood there's a tarry smell as well.

It's all quite unpleasant, all things considered]

[She curls her lip in disgust. Fucking gross.

Alright, tabling that for now... now to look at the robe. Anything to be noticed after unfolding it?]

[Certainly there is: blood on the back of this robe! Most of it is dry, but there's a short gash on a part of the back that still has some wet blood on it. There's bits of blood on other parts, but they don't seem to be particularly meaningful]
