CHAPTER 3
CHAPTER 3
The number of murders increased in the span of one week, and so did the number of deceased people. Four people dying in the span of a week is a noticeable change, reducing your numbers to 25. Though the bakery has been cleaned up and fixed back to the state it was in originally, now that the specter of murder has fully settled in, perhaps some of those currently alive wonder how many will be around at the end of the new week.
It's fortunate now everybody can ponder it with a colorful change of scenery. Despite the situation everyone has been in, the world around them were plausible, even perhaps mundane to some extent. The scenery that unfolds beyond a canyon to the east drives home a point:
You're in a world far perhaps, beyond your wildest imagination.
It's a land of sweets. Wherever you look you can see something that's both full of sugar and joy. You could reach anywhere and you could get something that will make your mood soar and your day get better! After all, there's something for everyone! What wonders will you find if you search hard enough? This is a paradise for a sweet tooth! The sight, though, may make one question pop up:
Will this candy land be dirtied with blood? Only time will tell.
[[Welcome to Week 3! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure.
In addition, a reminder that any Murder Proposals for this week are due by Tuesday 3:00 PM EST/12:00 PM PST! However, please note that you have the option of submitting murder proposals for a later week as well.]]

Good evening. [ clears his throat ] I won't take up too much of your time, but... I-I'd like to apologize for how things went at the end of the last trial. I know that must have been very stressful and frustrating, so...
no subject
It was, ja. [That much is easy enough to say, but there isn't any bitterness or anger in it.] But that certainly isn't your fault. I've been meaning to apologize to Marcus as well for casting further suspicion on him... but I suppose I got a bit distracted when I found out we had a bar.
[...tuesday basically did not exist for him, don't worry about it.]
Anyway, you have my apologies as well for that.
no subject
Ah... you really don't need to apologize for that, either. I'm sure none of that would have happened if it hadn't come down to the wire like that.
[ He absolutely wouldn't have mentioned any names himself if everyone hadn't been looking at Marcus with just minutes left on the clock, anyway... He was still beating himself up over what happened with Yor the week before. ]
no subject
[But he shrugs once that's out there.]
What happened to SQ truly was tragic. We'll certainly need to do better in the future, and now we know how things will go in a worst case scenario.
[Will it actually help? Mmmmmaybe. But hopefully next time will be less of a disaster!!]
no subject
Yes, absolutely. I hope we don't have reason to end up in a trial like that where we have to solve multiple murders again, but if we do, I...
[ Glances at a few people — not judgmentally, but... ]
I think that as a whole we need to make more of an effort to stay focused, regardless of what anyone may be feeling. But hopefully that's apparent to everyone now.

...
God, he sucks at this!! ]
Um, s-so what is it that your guild does, exactly? It's not a fisherman's guild or something, is it?
[ The name kind of sounds like it should be, but nothing else about his profile implied that. ]
no subject
No, no, we're essentially mercenaries. We take whatever jobs we're paid for, which lately has been a good amount of working as bodyguards.
no subject
Ah... like for traveling merchants and such?
no subject
Ja, precisely. Where I come from, there are monsters everywhere, so it's a bit difficult for people to travel without assistance from trained fighters.
no subject
We have a fair number as well, though thankfully there are really only certain ones that pose a significant problem... I suppose that at least brings you good business if nothing else.
no subject
[Absolutely wild that there are worlds out there that have like, normal people problems?? Can't relate.]
no subject
[ But that's kind of interesting. Not the most major change, obviously, but he'd kind of taken for granted that monsters probably existed in most of these other worlds, even if some of the people here never had any reason to encounter them. ]
There really is much more variation between worlds than I thought there was.
no subject
[It may actually be a total disaster...... nah, surely not.]
no subject
[ He didn't really mean to just drop that implied familiarity with Terca Lumireis there, and as he's both caught up in this explanation and slightly inebriated, it doesn't actually register that he did. ]
I have wondered since getting here if maybe it isn't the case that worlds share more commonalities the closer they are to one another, and fewer when there's greater spatial distance between them.
no subject
That's certainly interesting! I wonder if that had any impact on why there are some of us present from the same worlds... Or maybe that was simply Hamelin's idea of fun, I'm really not sure.
[It's at least partially because it's Hamelin's idea of fun.]
no subject
[ Hamelin sucks. ]
The types of relationships between each set of people from the same world seem to differ quite a bit as well, so he might just be trying out different things to see what makes for the most interesting story.

[That's just pure speculation, he hasn't examined room 5 at all despite it being right next door!!!]
