The first chapter was over. The stakes and mechanics of the system you're in have been shown to their full extent, and regardless of how you feel about the Samidare and Zola's deaths, the story must go on.

Clean-up is done with a perfection that'd make you wonder if there ever was a murder on that rooftop in the residential district. Everything is spotless and repaired, making it look like nothing ever happened. If it wasn't for the absence of two people among your number, you'd think it had all been a bad dream. But it wasn't. The brutality of the incident and the execution make that plainly clear.

Now, with the opening of a new week, something else opens. Lands beyond the area you spent seven days in. What will the new week bring? Will it be another murder?

Various historic tales mate it sound as zough the fortune was fictional, but vonce a piece of the map to it came into my possession, it vas much harder to deny its existence.

Zere are ozers after the treasure, and vhile one has been taken care of, a group of zem have proven to be qvite...meddlesome.

Does that mean they found out by getting a piece of the map too?

Correct. And more recently, zey got their hands on the rest of the pieces.

Including my own, because zey are not above theft.

How did they manage to steal the piece away? I imagine you had hid it or kept it somewhere safe?

A device zat tracked a colleague's location as vell as his recorted noises zat happened around him. Zey vere able to locate not only vhere the pieces vere hidden, but also how to access them.

[If he wasn't so angry at them, he'd almost be impressed.]

Are they a group of scholars?

You are correct on bos accounts. Zey have years of knowledge to look back on-enough zat it even rivals my own. Qvite the challenge to face.

That really does sound tough. It makes me wonder how you're going to get it back...

None back home, really. Except wondering who will lead the world and wanting nothing to do with it. The most recent thing before that was a huge scandal where someone from the Jin Clan had ended up lying about some things to everyone but that was taken care of. It didn't involve me at all and I barely paid attention to that, though.

[ And that wrapped up nicely.

Granted there were casualties during that when the outing happened but that was literally nothing he gave a rat's ass about. ]

The most challenging thing right now is our situation.

Hm.

[The parrot doesn't entirely believe the story, considering the contrast of someone perfectly fine with their life being in a death game where everyone's ultimate goals are to get their own wishes fulfilled. However...]

I am somevhat surprised. I hat believed most everyone here was dealing wis unfavorable circumstances. Zough it is not impossible for me to be wrong.

[There are more important things to figure out than other people's lies. If Nie's secret wish is to undo the scandal with this Jin Clan, it doesn't really change anything as far as he can tell.]

Let us hope sings do not become much more complicated here.

Hmm...I haven't really been assuming much of anything, because I really don't know many people here and their circumstances.

[ And in the end, no matter where his heart led him, he believed that sometimes...you never really knew someone no matter how many years you've known them. It's a lesson he'll never forget. ]
