FINAL TRIAL

Final Trial

This Friday morning you've investigated as has become commonplace, even if the circumstances have shifted. And now it's time to take stock of what you've found, what options you have, what options you don't, in the lull of action you have left.

The abyss in the fountain beckons, but doesn't demand quite yet. Who knows when that will change, though.

[OOC NOTE: You'll have the first hour of trial to discuss what you found in final investigation yesterday, and then we'll get this show on the road! ]

I don't recall saying that you shouldn't, and in fact you would have if Hamelin hadn't decided to commit murder.

[So there's that.]

We have no guarantee that he will be a resource outside of the words of his "family." He's been belligerent and uncooperative this entire time, and yet he has enough free will to commit murder as he sees fit. You can't tell me that he has never had options.

[ That was at his request. In fact, almost everything that happened then was at his request. She doesn't want to argue over that because there's no denying what happened that day. Hamelin's choices or Alexei's. ]

How will you save our dead then? What is your plan?

[ ... ]

Do you know how essential Hamelin is when it comes to resurrecting the dead?
sempiternel: (038)

[personal profile] sempiternel 2021-07-17 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I do not. But he did promise to save at least one of them.

...Jack-san, I presume?

This is why I'm insisting that we can't give him what he wants. We can't trust that he won't just take his "family" and leave.

Seriously.
sempiternel: (005)

[personal profile] sempiternel 2021-07-17 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't let him save just Jack.

[ A smile and a nod her way. ]

Thank you. We won't either.

We have a book that could do that for us.

[like. why the hell do we need him.]
sempiternel: (062)

[personal profile] sempiternel 2021-07-17 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
If the book affects everyone, we may as well write in our powers back. Bring back the dead. Write the Beldam's death. Write our way home.

[ But doesn't it only affect Hamelin? Since it's his story. ]
scythegun: (DECISION ⇝ you're totally fucked)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-07-17 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[You can probably rules lawyer your way around it if you're clever enough, right??]

If you're saying that we need to trust Hamelin to solve everything for us, then I'm going to argue that point. We're going to create our own ending, and I'm not here for relying on him for anything.
biqe: (staying home can't be that bad for me)

[personal profile] biqe 2021-07-17 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
My concern is that the book is specifically the tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. While I'm all for us writing our own ending, I don't know that writing it here would be effective, and we have limited space on the page.

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-07-17 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you could word it as "he restored our powers, brought those who died in this game back to life, and then helped in the battle against the Beldam". But I do see your point, I simply dislike the idea of entrusting him to solve all of this for us.
biqe: (how you choose to see it)

[personal profile] biqe 2021-07-17 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not really looking at that way; I'm just considering this a way to get past him that doesn't require bloodshed and will give us more time to decide what we wish to do with him in the end after our larger enemy has been dealt with. We can solve it ourselves, he'll just be briefly along for the ride.

[Marcus has already gotten him to stand down, so he nods at that.]

Very well. My apologies for being obstinate. I agree to that, ja.

[ Tenn agrees with quite a few points being brought up here, but he is really tired of hearing the debate going on right now, so he clears his throat. ]

We seem to agree on the ending that Phillip-san wrote, right? Do we think we're ready to give it a try?
crimson_flamel: (huh!!)

[personal profile] crimson_flamel 2021-07-17 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's deeply exhausted.]

I am, at least.
biyishuangfei: (β™ͺ I know it’s too late)

...I think I'm ready.

[ Moreso now that the part about Hamelin being mortal was added in, so. \o/ ]

You do not have to do anything you don't want to do.

Yeah, and sometimes when you have someone behind you with control over whether you live or die, you make some really stupid decisions.

[ hahaha handwriting getting a little shakier over here as he listens to this while writing this ending draft!!! it's fine ]
