FINAL INVESTIGATION

Good morning and happy Friday. Despite the sense of the coming end, today starts off just like any other Friday in Aira Niluc, with a song finding its way to your ears. Normally this would be followed by an announcement, but there is only silence in it's wake.

The curious might be piqued to gather where what's becoming familiar by now, and they'll find that the fountain is completely drained, leading downward into a completely dark abyss. An emerald slide glitters, clearly an invitation of some sort, but it's probably not best to go down there until you're all prepared. Take stock of what you need, explore to find any other changes in the world, and then gather together.

[She smiles in wry amusement. All because she and Tenn took an axe to his stupid door.]

Hmmm. I wonder why he didn't move there from the start.

[She hefts her axe onto her shoulder, as you do. There's a glint of something almost close to excitement in her eyes.]

[ Stepping into the estate you'll notice that it has two floors; the rooms on the first floor don't bear anything particularly interesting: a meeting room, a billiards room, a lounge and a pretty large kitchen (unstocked). You're free to peek around here as much as you like but you won't find anything of note, or even any hairbrushes.

That being said, the second floor holds promise as that has to be where Hamelin's office is, or you could check out the courtyard in the rear. So where to? ]

[ Jeeze, Hamelin, please stock your kitchen and eat something!! But at least this is truly empty and nothing seems dangerous so far. ]

I'll take the office. Yuri, are you coming with me?

[ If anyone wants to protest Team Hamelin doing Hamelin's dirty laundry, now is the time. ]

[Absolutely not.]

I think perhaps someone not affiliated with Hamelin should accompany you. While I trust Yuri, I'd be a lot more comfortable if either Makoto or I were watching over you.

It's probably better to keep someone he likes in each pair, right?

[ Hamelin's office... Yuri casts a rueful glance upstairs, and then shakes her head. ]

There seems to be more to the back that we should have a look at. We'll meet up after?

[ McGillis is going to give Yuri a firm nod. ]

I will take care of his belongings as well as possible.

[ And then a more encouraging nod to Edelgard. ]

Let's go then. Supervise me.

[She nods.]

I won't break any doors unless absolutely necessary. Promise.

[She'll give a nod to both of them and a softer look to Yuri that wordlessly expresses her support.]

[ Off to the office you go! The door is unlocked, and you won't find any surprises inside immediately. McGillis will find this space exactly just as he's familiar with, if anything it looks a little sparse given that there's no mess of papers on his desk for once.

Edelgard is free to go through his drawers and while she will find a hairbrush, there's nothing else of note inside them besides some blank sheets of paper. But surely there has to be something else to see in here. ]

[ Alright, McGillis is familiar with the layout of this place but I am not, so let's go through what we have here. If there are bookshelves, McGillis would make a beeline for those. ]

... odd to see it empty.

[ There are no bookshelves in his office 2.0! McGillis is free to look at the hunting trophies on the wall though, as well as the rifles, they're both unremarkable.

Edelgard's discovery though is probably of interest. ]

You could take one of these back to your world.

[ You know, he's all for Edelgard inventing firearms in medieval fantasy land. What can go wrong?? Anyway, door time. ]

Let me know if something's off. You're more acquainted with this place than I am.

[Time to get the stones out. She'll first point it at the office itself, and then to the paper.]

[ Edelgard has the right idea. The paper is just that, normal paper, but staring at the office itself will reveal a door along the far wall. Head inside?

NHS searched so hard for this for weeks. ]

[ He'll just sneak a stone from Edelgard so he can also see this and wooo, now isn't that something. ]

No way to move but forward. The rest of this place is just as I last saw it.

[ Makoto nods to Mcgillis before offering Yuri a small smile. ]

Alright. That's settled. Let's all do our best then.

[ With that, I guess they're (Makoto + Yuri?) heading for the courtyard. ]

[ Getting some fresh air is always nice. Stepping out into the courtyard, the strange silence will be broken by the calls of birdsong, several magpie flitting about the apple trees. All things considered, there's way worse background ambiance. ]

Thank you coming with me, Lord Makoto. [ A quick curtsy, hand over her heart. She means it! ] Let's do our best to stay safe for Tenn's sake.

[ Now then. She takes out her adder stone, just in case. ]

The apple trees should be important. After all, an apple is the Grimm insignia.

[ You know, fairy tales, symbolism... So she'll look at one of the apple tree first! Green apples, red? Anything special or off about them? ]

[ Makoto nods before he swings that cane of his onto his shoulder like he's going to be able to protect her with it, lol. ]

Yeah, I'm not surprised to see them here at all.

[ Yuri's got the trees, so Makoto's keeping his eye on those birds with his own stone. ]

[ I can't wait to see Makoto cane a bird?

The birds look normal under the adderstones but since he's staring at them so closely he'll notice some of them seem to have scrolls attached to their legs. Of course they're birds and perching in the trees and just flitting about, so what do? Also, they seem to be magpies. ]

[ The apples are red! And they look positively delicious. Of course looks can be deceiving, and one probably shouldn't go around eating fruit growing on a tree in the mastermind's backyard (probably). The adder stone doesn't yield any secrets when pointed at the tree itself, but it does seem one apple has fallen on the ground and is currently being swarmed by everyone's favorite bug around these parts, ants. ]

[ Little selfish creeps, probably wearing their disgustingly cute top hats!! She's not touching that just yet... Let's first look at the apple without the adder stone! What's it like? Are there tiny rifles, music notes, bullets/knives, or ninja stars in it? Then with the adder stone: same questions! ]
