FINAL CHAPTER
Final Chapter
Like the secrets that spilled out into the open, the night sky above Aira Niluc also seems to be running free; whatever part of the land you find yourself in at night, you'll find that the night sky has been painted with shooting stars. Watching them brings a certain comfort, the feeling of chicken soup on a cold winter day, the nostalgia of meeting an old friend again, a warm fuzzy feeling from your core.
A boost to your spirits is likely welcome at this point, and it seems be the only thing Aira Niluc has to offer you at this as no new locations open up to you this week. There's a certain energy in the air, but not all of that can be blamed on the shooting stars, given the explosion that happened this weekend. For now the chasm in what was once the fountain remains impassable, but who knows when that will change?
[[Welcome to Week 6! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure through Wednesday of this week.
Also, please note the shop's discount on magnifying glasses! ]]
tailor;
...Phil? Why do you have those tiny clothes with you?

[ He can't help but be at least a little curious... ]

Yes, she's the mirrite of a friend of mine. The way Marcus appears isn't actually typical; most mirrites remain in their juvenile forms, which are small and winged — much like the fairies here.
no subject
Marcus doesn't have any hidden wings at all? Do you know why that is?
no subject
[ Too bad Morgan isn't around to confirm or deny. ]
And anyway, part of the point of this form is that they're supposed to be able to pass as human.
no subject
That makes sense, I suppose. I wonder if they can fight much when the others are that small, though I wouldn't expect them to have the same capabilities as Marcus.

[ He'll look at the clothing around him. He's...he doesn't like the style, but maybe he should take back some souvenirs too. ]
Phil, what are you going to do when you get back?
no subject
[ That's said very quickly and firmly, at least. ]
There's a group now that's on the verge of destroying it... they're trying to restore the old world that existed before ours in its place. I'm going to do whatever I can to ensure that doesn't happen... and to make up for all the harm I've done.
no subject
I hope you're successful in that, then.
But, I have to wonder...why would someone try to restore 'the old world'? It sounds like doing that sort of thing would get messy.
[ It can't just be figurative, can it... ]

[ He frowns... There's no simple way of explaining any of this. ]
I believe I mentioned the Void some time ago, when I was speaking at that meeting about my experience in the mirror here... how most of our world was lost to it.
[ ...He could very well gloss over this part like he's done nearly every other time it's come up. And he probably should, but... now that everything's starting to come to an end, he thinks he'd kind of prefer to be a little more honest. ]
...That... that happened because of a close childhood friend and myself. She wanted revenge on an enemy country that had killed another... important friend of ours, and even though I'd originally followed her with the intention of stopping her from going too far, in the end, I really just ended up helping her do it. Together we designed a weapon that annihilated all of them — stripped away their anima and reduced them to mere particles like glowing grains of sand.
That awful power we used caused an abnormal phenomenon — a sort of rift that allowed the Void to expand into our world and consume it. And those particles that remained of the people of Bifrost were trapped in the Void, feeling little but hatred and the perpetual pain of dying in what we've called the Voidstorm, or the "sandstorm of death".
[ He hasn't even answered the question yet, but this is a lot, so he... pauses there for a moment before continuing. ]
The world that existed before ours was brought to ruin by something very similar. The Empire learned of the truth of the old world and decided that this false replacement world that was on that same course of destruction wasn't worth saving. I believe that the way they see it, or... at least some of them... the only possibility for true salvation is to return everything to that time before any of these disasters had begun.

Huaisang can't say he's expected it at all. But he sits there, listening through the entirety of it, fanning himself a bit with the fan he's taken out of his sleeve at some point in all of this.
He's just glad no one tried to see if they could do the same in his world. The Cultivation world has enough problems. But, it also explains why the other man blamed himself. He's grimacing a little because holy shit. ]
...I can see why you'd want to make up for something like this. I don't think I can imagine anything like that in my world, but it's not something that'd be easy for anyone to just shrug off, obviously.
[ In the end, though, he can't say he looks at Phil any differently, though. His brother was always the black and white person. He's become someone who sits better with greys, to put it that way. ]
It's an interesting line of thought they have, though. Especially since they'd have no guarantee the very same thing wouldn't just happen again. As someone else probably could manage something like that if it's happened twice already.
