CHAPTER 6
CHAPTER 6
The dead now outnumber the living.
There's only one area that stayed a mystery until now. A new path revealed itself, leading to another town, surrounded by sturdy stone walls. Even from some distance away you can see the tower, rising high towards the skies. The path that leads to the city turns into gold before long, and the sky itself seems to take a beautiful tone, like it's painted with watercolors. It's such a peaceful-looking town, welcoming you with open gates. It must be nice to have another urban setting, after living in the same place for so long.
But no matter what you find it doesn't change the situation you're in. Now that your numbers are dwindling that's impossible to forget.
The story is nearing its end. There still are a handful of pages left. What will they bring?
[[Welcome to Week 6! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure.
In addition, a reminder that any Murder Proposals for this week are due by Tuesday 3:00 PM EST/12:00 PM PST; this is the last week for murder proposals as week 7 is endgame. Also, please note the shop's discount on magnifying glasses! ]]

[ Pushing forward the stack of books! ]
Little Red Riding Hood, or Little Red-Cap depending on the version... I wondered if that might have some connection to this "Red" figure who was mentioned at the meeting yesterday.
[ And he is just going to unload all his thoughts about this on you, sorry... ]
There are several versions where Little Red stops to pick flowers, which could possibly have something to do with those flowers from Raven's room... and the villain of the story is a hungry wolf, that in many versions is defeated by a hunter. That banner at the mansion with an emblem that seems to depict an apple, a rifle, and a music note... the music note presumably represents Hamelin, and the apple could be for Snow White, as McGillis suggested before... and the rifle could be representative of this one.
Additionally, if you've been to Hamelin's office recently, there's a wolf rug in the middle of the room, along with various other hunting-themed decorations.
...Granted, I'm not sure what any of this would actually mean yet, but it might at least give us some clues as to what unseen parties we could be dealing with.

[ He does recall that part of the discussion!
Huaisang ends up listening to what he says, finding himself rather interested in what he has to say, because even if it's a lot he doesn't mind. But he begins to skim through the books, first on Red Riding Hood. ]
Oh. So he might also imagine himself as "The Big Bad Wolf"? Then again you mentioned the music symbol is probably him.
[ ... ]
What's Snow White all about anyway?

[ He's pretty sure pigs have nothing to do with any of this, so they don't need to spend much time on that. ]
Well, it doesn't have anything to do with snow, actually.
[ In case you were making the same assumption he did before McGillis corrected him!! ]
It's the name of a princess. The queen has a magic mirror that has always told her that she's the most beautiful person in the world, but one day it tells her Snow White's beauty has surpassed hers; so, out of jealousy, she sends the princess off to be killed. The huntsman who's been tasked with killing her lets her go, though, and when the queen's mirror tells her that Snow White is still the most beautiful person in the world, she knows that the job wasn't really done. So she disguises herself as an old woman and finds where Snow White is hiding in the woods, and tricks her into taking a poisoned apple from her. The poison sends her into a death-like sleep until she's awakened by a prince's kiss.

But, hm. That sure is a story. ]
It looks like there's a hunter or huntsman as a common character in the two stories you mentioned. It's also interesting that there's a mirror mentioned in Snow White, seeing as we're in a place that seems to be full of them. Though it's clear it doesn't really work the same way as the mirrors here...
[ Who would've thought there'd be the day where he'd be picking apart some fairy tales. ]
What happens to the old woman after the princess is woken from her slumber, though? [ ... ] I...assume the old woman would still try to make an attempt on her life.

Well, she went back to being a beautiful queen after that, of course; given her preoccupation with appearance she was hardly going to stay in a disguise like that. She does try to kill her again, at her wedding to the prince, but she's stopped and forced to dance in red hot shoes until she dies.
...Most of these tales have a lot of very morbid aspects to them, actually.

I guess so.
[ He'll take out his prop fan, beginning to fan himself a bit as he considers something. ]
Well...it makes me think of t-that woman—or rather, that creature—from my time in the mirror. She or whatever it was happened to be in a disguise of some sort—it's probably another coincidence or something, but it made me think of that.
