CHAPTER 6

CHAPTER 6

The dead now outnumber the living.

There's only one area that stayed a mystery until now. A new path revealed itself, leading to another town, surrounded by sturdy stone walls. Even from some distance away you can see the tower, rising high towards the skies. The path that leads to the city turns into gold before long, and the sky itself seems to take a beautiful tone, like it's painted with watercolors. It's such a peaceful-looking town, welcoming you with open gates. It must be nice to have another urban setting, after living in the same place for so long.

But no matter what you find it doesn't change the situation you're in. Now that your numbers are dwindling that's impossible to forget.

The story is nearing its end. There still are a handful of pages left. What will they bring?

[[Welcome to Week 6! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure.

The royals I know are naive but I wouldn’t call them good-natured...

[ Naive to the point of irresponsibility, actually. It’s a wonder their country still stands. ]

But I suppose that’s why they rely on military men such are yourself to keep the country running.

The royals you know are not from fairy tales, I should hope.

[ Please just stab him for this week's case if he ever starts speaking about the inherent good of nobility. ]

Though I do admit I based my impression for what a fairy tale prince might truly be like off a specific noble I once knew in real life. He was more exception than rule though.

Haha, no, those royals wouldn’t qualify for any fairy tales.

[ Fairy tale princes can be scummy but at least there’s something magical about them? The only thing magical about the prince she knows is his ability to make people want to punch him in the face repeatedly. ]

But the noble you mention - he must have left quite the impression!

It's the friend of mine I've mentioned early on.

[ The one who passed away so now he doesn't believe in friendship..... ]

He had all the cheer and aura of a prince, carefree and genuine as he was.

Ah... He sounds like the exception, honestly. It is hard to grow up and still be genuine.

I don't quite know how he managed it, in such a corrupt world.I don't think it would have been possible without his considerable privilege, but it is still a feat.

Of course, he was also carelessly arrogant. He'd never known a reason not to be.
