The dead now outnumber the living.

There's only one area that stayed a mystery until now. A new path revealed itself, leading to another town, surrounded by sturdy stone walls. Even from some distance away you can see the tower, rising high towards the skies. The path that leads to the city turns into gold before long, and the sky itself seems to take a beautiful tone, like it's painted with watercolors. It's such a peaceful-looking town, welcoming you with open gates. It must be nice to have another urban setting, after living in the same place for so long.

But no matter what you find it doesn't change the situation you're in. Now that your numbers are dwindling that's impossible to forget.

The story is nearing its end. There still are a handful of pages left. What will they bring?

[ She pets one gently on the head. Then to Phil: ]

Well, unless we can vault over safely, it seems our investigation ends here?

[biqe]

[ Yeah, that's... pretty much the reaction he's been getting from animals lately, it seems... fair. He sighs as he stands back up. ]

Hm... Well, that's disappointing.

[ And frustrating, because if he could use mirristry like normal he could just conjure up his own key for that lock. ]

I suppose the salt won't work on the fence bars themselves either...?

[sempiternel]

Let's try.

[ She sprinkles a little salt on one of the bars, careful to not get any on the mice. ]

[faentasy]

[ The mice appreciate both the head pat and not getting salt sprinkled on them. Nothing happens with the fence except it too is now salty. ]

[sempiternel]

[ Well. Time to find the birdapult? JK... Unless? ]

[biqe]

[ I mean, THE THOUGHT DID OCCUR TO HIM...... ]

[sempiternel]

[ Before they toss some poor unfortunate soul over the gate, she's just gonna use the magnifying glass to examine... the mice? Hm, yes! ]

[faentasy]

[ The mice look cute and as adorable as ever when they're looked at the under magnifying glass. They do scurry back up towards the mansion shortly after though, with a squeak. ]

[biqe]

Did that... do anything?

[sempiternel]

Not a thing, but they are even cuter up close!

[biqe]

I see...

[ Well, as long as you didn't break a magnifying glass for that... ]

...If we're really that eager to get over the fence, I suppose there's always the catapult as a last resort, but I think it would make sense to check this area for a normal stepladder first in case there's a simpler solution to this.

[sempiternel]

[ She nods! Guess they're looking for a stepladder now? ]

[ Now to timeskip to them finding one at the ranch and bringing it back!! ]
