CHAPTER 6

CHAPTER 6

The dead now outnumber the living.

There's only one area that stayed a mystery until now. A new path revealed itself, leading to another town, surrounded by sturdy stone walls. Even from some distance away you can see the tower, rising high towards the skies. The path that leads to the city turns into gold before long, and the sky itself seems to take a beautiful tone, like it's painted with watercolors. It's such a peaceful-looking town, welcoming you with open gates. It must be nice to have another urban setting, after living in the same place for so long.

But no matter what you find it doesn't change the situation you're in. Now that your numbers are dwindling that's impossible to forget.

The story is nearing its end. There still are a handful of pages left. What will they bring?

[[Welcome to Week 6! Feel free to make top levels at your discretion, and remember to note it in your header if you plan on investigating any locations. However, please try to keep investigations to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday! You can also privately contact Hamelin at your leisure.

In addition, a reminder that any Murder Proposals for this week are due by Tuesday 3:00 PM EST/12:00 PM PST; this is the last week for murder proposals as week 7 is endgame. Also, please note the shop's discount on magnifying glasses! ]]
gemuinemanagement: (and make sense of everything)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-05 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I was starting to get that impression
I think I'll stick to normal swords
mirrite: (22)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-05 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You want to make one?
gemuinemanagement: ('cause for that instant)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-05 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, right, he never actually said at the trial - he points to his slightly glowing sword with the blade made of a pale blue gemstone, which is currently leaning against a wall.]

I made that myself
mirrite: (5)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-05 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah?

[Sorry, Suga, hope you don't mind him going over to take a look at it out of curiosity.]

... hey, that's pretty nice. I never would've thought of making a sword out of a gem like that.

Must be a pain to sharpen, though.
gemuinemanagement: (remember me)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-05 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Suga shakes his head, and Marcus will notice that the blade is entirely dull. Like, couldn't cut bread with it dull.]

If it was sharp I wouldn't be allowed to keep it
It's made of glowstone, which has anti-evil spirit properties
So it doesn't need to be sharp
mirrite: (28)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-05 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
... huh. So it's a sword that's not really a sword at all.

[That's... kind of fascinating, actually!]

I'm guessing you use it to repel that spirit you were telling me about earlier?
gemuinemanagement: (why don't you mind)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-05 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
More often the weaker spirits of the children she's trapped
The Kotori Obake herself is a little too strong for me to go against even properly armed
mirrite: (19)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-06 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah. Yes. He'd mentioned that part too...]

What would it take to be able to go against this Kotori Obake?
gemuinemanagement: ('cause for that instant)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-06 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Someone properly capable of cleansing or banishing a malevolent spirit
I'm not sure people like that even still exist in this time period
Certainly not in our village
mirrite: (3)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-06 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sounds about right. I don't think anything is ever just straightforward when it comes to spirits.

[Not in his world either, at least.]

Although I guess that part sorta comes with the territory.
gemuinemanagement: (on a screen you sit at permanently)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-06 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be relieved if there were a way to deal with her permanently
So I wouldn't have to worry about what'll happen after I'm gone
mirrite: (18)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-06 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well...

[Hmmm.]

If she's anything like the spirits where I come from, she probably can be killed. It's just a matter of figuring out what it takes to make that happen.

[We don't talk about how a certain former crown prince killed one of the primary spirits back at home...]
gemuinemanagement: (let's type words)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-06 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd be easier if there were other adults who believed she existed in the first place
mirrite: (11)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-06 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't argue that.

[He sighs.]

It figures, though. You'd be surprised at how bad people can be about recognizing things that are right in front of them. Especially if it's easier to just ignore it and look the other way.

[laughs in... his entire canon, really]
gemuinemanagement: (you move so fast)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-06 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
In a way I'm relieved
Because there have been fewer deaths recently because I'm doing a good job
But I won't be able to do that much longer, most likely
mirrite: (22)

[personal profile] mirrite 2021-07-09 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hm? Why not?
gemuinemanagement: (of indignation)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-09 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You saw Pericles' notes
About my 'inevitable death'
I probably won't live past 28
