The dead now outnumber the living.

There's only one area that stayed a mystery until now. A new path revealed itself, leading to another town, surrounded by sturdy stone walls. Even from some distance away you can see the tower, rising high towards the skies. The path that leads to the city turns into gold before long, and the sky itself seems to take a beautiful tone, like it's painted with watercolors. It's such a peaceful-looking town, welcoming you with open gates. It must be nice to have another urban setting, after living in the same place for so long.

But no matter what you find it doesn't change the situation you're in. Now that your numbers are dwindling that's impossible to forget.

The story is nearing its end. There still are a handful of pages left. What will they bring?

[ With a single-scoop cup of pistachio in hand, Phil stops — there's no one else around at the moment as far as he can tell, so he's presuming that offer was addressed to him, even if Tenn isn't looking in his direction — and tilts his head slightly as he looks at the selection of games. Not a lot, but they're at least familiar ones. ]

Hm? That's fine with me. What did you have in mind?

[ Hi, Phil. Tenn glances at him for a moment, before looking back to the games. ]

Take your pick. I'll play anything.

[ He can't claim to be good and he has no idea how to play jacks, but he's down to try anyway. ]

You know how to play chess, then?

[ Again, not a pro at it or anything, but he knows how!

He'll pull out the chess box and set up the pieces as he gestures at Phil to take a seat across of him. ]

[ Nods and takes a seat. ]

Why did you want to do this, if I might ask? Distraction, or...?

[ He sure does seem like he needs one, at least. Anyway, Tenn will allow Phil to make the first move. ]

Don't worry about the rules, by the way. I'm not going to bother being strict about them.

Well, I know them pretty well, so that shouldn't be an issue, anyway.

[ Playing!!! He's pretty good at it, despite his nontraditional strategies and apparent willingness to put his important pieces in danger. He's also not being particularly aggressive about it, though, since this isn't really a serious game. ]

[ Ah. Hm.

Phillip is quite good at it, yes. And Tenn keeps taking the bait, too, whenever Phil lays out those kinds of traps! It's a very one-sided game, but Tenn does seem relaxed afterwards. ]

You're very good at this, Phillip-san.

Haha... well, it was something I could do without leaving the house and getting into trouble when I was young, and I had some classmates when I moved to the capital later on who enjoyed the game quite a bit.

Who was your toughest opponent?

[ He's curious. Phillip's a nice person, he wants to learn more about him! ]

...My old friend Freisel, I think. Demitrius was the one who liked it the most and played most often, but his style was more straightforward and predictable.

You must be a good strategist, too. I've always gotten that vibe from you.

W-well, I try, but most of my plans tend to work out better in theory than in practice...

[ Like that "I'm going to stop my crush from making a weapon of mass destruction" plan. Didn't really pan out!! ]
