PROLOGUE

The clink of glasses, the clatter of utensils upon plates and the soft murmur of conversation flows smoothly in the warmly lit dining hall. It's a dinner party, a rather vivacious one at that, with the food flowing freely. Savory and sweet, regional specialties, refined and rustic, there's something for everyone. Omurice, chiffon cake, kimchi, sizzling porterhouse steaks—it might be more apt to call it a buffet than anything else.

Do buffets usually serve such a unique smorgasbord of food? And actually, weren't you doing something else? A free meal is usually a good thing but is anything truly free? Who are these people around you? And where exactly are you?

Whatever thoughts are racing through your mind, they're abruptly cut off by a note, high pitched G-sharp from a woodwind. All your senses return to you, though they won't tell you much. Maybe not all of them actually, if you're used to feats of heroic strength or manipulating reality or numerous other abilities. There is one clue at least, a heavy weighted paper beneath your plate, an embossed note rather than a list of courses.

"Enjoy yourselves. I'll come see you when you've had your fill. And don't try to dine and dash, huh? There's something I have—something I can do for you, after all. Besides, you've already agreed to the terms anyway!"

[ The first thing that Morgan feels as she comes to is pain.

She lets out a hiss as she suddenly grabs her arm, which upon a second look seems to be bleeding pretty severely. She pushes her chair back and stands up, looking around somewhat nervously as she tries to recognize where she is. ]

Where are we? What am I supposed to be doing?

[ She seems to be asking someone, but as she doesn't make eye contact, it doesn't look like it's anyone here. A moment, and she looks down at her chest, her eyes widening in surprise. ]

What...?

[ Her priorities seem to have shifted away from the bleeding wound on her arm. It's... probably fine. ]

general store, outside

[ Eventually (if she gets her arm taken care of, at least) she finds herself in front of the general store as she wanders around, staring up at the extremely bold sign front. The motifs used here and around the... whatever this place is aren't familiar in the slightest, yet it's probably really easy to take a guess why she seems confused about everything. She frowns, her wispy eyebrows knitting together in frustration. ]

Is this supposed to be some kind of a joke?

[ Probably. ]

[ He's got his own reasons for taking interest in this sign, but her reaction to it is certainly different from his. And looking over in the direction of that voice—

Oh. A spirit, maybe? The wings aren't really right for a mirrite... ]

...On you personally, you mean?

[ She glances towards Phil, giving him a once over before looking back at the sign. ]

Yes.

[ Succinct! ]

I know just as little as you do, so I'm afraid I can't help if you're going to ask me questions.

[biqe]

[ Girl, if you think you're the only fairy here... ]

Not about this place, anyway. I'd think it pretty clear to anyone paying attention that it's new to you as well.

Is that what you would call yourself, then?

[ Motioning toward the fairy sign... ]

You look a bit like a spirit I'm acquainted with.

[amortristis]

[ At least Marcus actually can get away with plausible deniability! ]

Yes, it is.

[ She looks back at him when he mentions the spirit. ]

Am I? I've only had experiences with the divine realm, so I am not sure if that's a compliment or not.

[ At least Muzet got pulled from X2... ]

Huh? [ Have a bright haired redhead heading out of the store. ]

Oh, are you the shopkeep? That's like, a pretty cool costume! Can I pull on your wings? What did you make them out of? Some kind of high tech rubber probably, right?

[amortristis]

[ ............ yeah, she briefly glances as SQ, but she's not going to be deigning any of that with an actual response. You can't just ask those kinds of things, gosh! ]

[5_1_1]

[ Tilts her head back and forth, earrings jingling. ]

Hellooooooooooo? Oh, is this part of the act too? You're like, so dedicated! [ And because she didn't hear a no she is going to try to just. Tugs on the wings a little. ]

[amortristis]

[ Yeah, she doesn't get very far before Morgan raises her arm to push her off her. Haven't you heard of personal space!!! ]

Don't touch me. Does it look like I –

[ She stops midquestion. Yes, actually, it does look like she knows what's going on. At least she's painfully aware of it. ]

dining hall!

[sempiternel]

[ Ahhh, a wounded person! ]

M-my lady, before anything else, we need to stanch the bleeding first! [ Yuri hovers nervously at the edge of Morgan's personal bubble. ] May I come closer to help?

[amortristis]

[ In her focus on something else, she only just notices that Yuri is talking to her at the tail end of her question. Her gaze drops down to the cut on her wound, almost nonchalantly. After a moment, she looks back up at Yuri and nods slightly. She appreciates the apprehension, at least. ]

[sempiternel]

[ Yuri sighs with relief and comes closer, raising a hand to call on a healing spell. And - nothing. She falters. ]

What...? [ She tries again. Nothing. In fact, she can't even sense the well of magic within. This is - this is completely unexpected. For a moment more, she doesn't know how to react to this information, but then she physically shakes off the questions and confusion. Help this person first. Deal with everything else later.

Worry about it later, Yuri. Just... don't think about it. ]

It looks like we'll have to do this the old-fashioned way. Never fear, my lady, I have many handkerchiefs at my disposal. [ She pulls out a simple one to show Morgan that it is clean. ] Please brace yourself as I'll have to tie it very tightly.

[amortristis]

[ Morgan watches Yuri attempt what looks like some sort of healing spell, to no avail, and her eyes open slightly in surprise as something fails. Her wings shift slightly behind her, as she tries to shift into a different form, and... nothing. Not even a glimmer of magic. ]

That's... [ She purses her lips, her brows furrowing as she tries to figure out what its supposed to mean. There's no sign of Celestin, either. Does he have something to do with this...?

She looks up at Yuri as she pulls out the handkerchief and nods. ]

That's fine.

[ Very talkative. ]

[1. Winged person. Okay, that's something new.
2. Person bleeding pretty badly??

She doesn't seem to have much in the way of clothes - which is definitely something Suga will get flustered over after the immediate problem is addressed - so Suga doesn't hesitate to tear a long strip off his own sweater. It'd take too long to write a note asking her if she wanted help, so he taps on the table to get her attention and then holds out the cloth. Hello, please take this makeshift bandage now, thank you.]

[amortristis]

[ Sorry, Suga. There's a lot going on with her.

It takes a second before Morgan turns towards him when he taps on the table, her gaze moving down to the cloth in his hand. It doesn't take a genius to figure out where he got it from, especially when she sees his sweater is pretty aggressively torn. She... sort of stares at it for a moment, like she's trying to figure out why he's doing this, before looking up at him with a nod. ]

... Thank you.

[ She takes the cloth, and also a few napkins to try and at least clean some of the blood off her arm before ruining the fabric with her blood. ]

[The fabric's already pretty ruined, he doesn't really care, but if it makes her feel better. While she's doing that, he writes down a note for her to read after the wound is bandaged.]

Are you hurt anywhere else

[amortristis]

[ She quietly cleans herself up and makes an attempt at getting the bandage at least somewhat secure on her arm. She notices the note he wrote, and angles her head to read it. ]

I'm fine.

[ She gives herself a once over to look for any other injuries or wounds, but finds nothing. She's actually impressed the arm wound was all she had, given how hard she had collided with the screen at the venue she was just at. ]

You wouldn't know what's going on here, would you?

Oh--we should do something about that before it gets infected, miss...

[Not really worried about the fairy-like appearance of this woman (look, one of her best friends has horns. Rika's not gonna be rude and ask why someone has wings), Rika takes one of the napkins from the table and approaches Morgan.]

[amortristis]

[ Rika is a bro. Love that girl.

She looks at Rika as she approaches, not really reacting too much as she comes closer with the napkins. She's got a lot going on, so the thought of cleaning it up doesn't immediately come to mind. She appreciates the help, at least, even though she's not sure of the why. ]

I'm all right.

[ Relatively speaking. D-Do fairies even get infections...?

Regardless, she sits back down in the chair, angling her arm so Rika can do what she needs to with it. ]

[With Morgan having sat down, Rika cleans off the dripping blood with disposable napkins, before using the cloth one she has to tie around the wound itself.]

Pain pain, go away...

[She says softly once it's secure, not really thinking about if it's childish. Perhaps it's just a natural part of the script of being Rika Furude.]

There! It's not a real bandage, but it should work until we find one, miss.

[amortristis]

[ It's pretty endearing, even if it's a little childish. When Rika's done, she looks at her handiwork, nodding slightly. ]

It's fine. You don't have to worry about me.

[ Luckily this is the only injury she's got. Given how hard she went into that screen before coming here, it's pretty lucky. ]

[Whoa? Pretty fairy lady?? Finally, something nice to look at in this place!]

If it's a joke ta have wound up here with you, for once I'm glad ta have been pranked!

[Surely he nailed it with this response.]

[ raven.....................................

Morgan sort of turns and looks at him and just kind of. Stares. ]

You arrived here under similar circumstances, then?

[ The way her tone kind of signals mild annoyance, it's fairly clear that the flirting didn't just go over her head. ]

[reallyfishy]

[Aww, don't give him that look! You'll break the old man's heart!]

Suspicious note and all? Yeah. So I don't suppose the other fairies 'round here are yer kind?

[If she's apparently not from here...]

[ Not her problem!!!! >:^( ]

No, I don't think so. I haven't seen any yet, but I don't know of any that would do organize something like this.

[ Not that she's seen any in a while. ]

Believe me or not. I don't care.
