The clink of glasses, the clatter of utensils upon plates and the soft murmur of conversation flows smoothly in the warmly lit dining hall. It's a dinner party, a rather vivacious one at that, with the food flowing freely. Savory and sweet, regional specialties, refined and rustic, there's something for everyone. Omurice, chiffon cake, kimchi, sizzling porterhouse steaks—it might be more apt to call it a buffet than anything else.

Do buffets usually serve such a unique smorgasbord of food? And actually, weren't you doing something else? A free meal is usually a good thing but is anything truly free? Who are these people around you? And where exactly are you?

Whatever thoughts are racing through your mind, they're abruptly cut off by a note, high pitched G-sharp from a woodwind. All your senses return to you, though they won't tell you much. Maybe not all of them actually, if you're used to feats of heroic strength or manipulating reality or numerous other abilities. There is one clue at least, a heavy weighted paper beneath your plate, an embossed note rather than a list of courses.

"Enjoy yourselves. I'll come see you when you've had your fill. And don't try to dine and dash, huh? There's something I have—something I can do for you, after all. Besides, you've already agreed to the terms anyway!"

Any of the men? Whichever one you want! You have a good chance at hitting someone who has a body count taller than you are in years, trust me.

But the women don't have a body count...?

Some of them might. But it's harder for me to paint a target on a beautiful ladies back, you know?

[ smh. ]

Oh, so you're one of those types of people my sister warns about.

[begrimed]

...To be fair, she didn't like Yuuhi much either.

[ There's a blink but sure he can just keep this convo going? ]

I was always fond of calling them my family, myself.

Yuuhi's not my family, but he's... important.

Who's your family then?

Ahaha, not gonna happen fraulein. The whole point of me being don is so that everything stops at me and doesn't affect them.

[ He is protective, ok? ]

[lastreward]

[ She laughs. ] Oh I see, that's cute. I'm not going after your family.

I can't anyway, right! I was just curious what a murderous kidnapper keeps as his family.

[begrimed]

Haha, is that it? [ Considers. ] Kids, mostly. But that's probably not too surprising, right?

[lastreward]

[ Tilts her head. ] Are you doing this to protect them or something or?

[begrimed]

That'd be nice if it was in any way close to the truth.

[ Smile. ]

The only protection I'm offering them now is not being around.

[lastreward]

Oh, so you're a danger to them, huh.

[begrimed]

You got it.

[ that smile's now a sneer. ]

[lastreward]

[ But her smile turns melancholic. ]

It's a shame when you can't be with those you love, isn't it?

[begrimed]

[ What is this whiplash? He stares and then shakes his head. ]

Shame is somethin' I lost many years ago, fraulein. [ That's not exactly how she meant it, but that's how he's answering it. ]

[lastreward]

[ Just a moody teenager, you know~ have another whiplash. ]

Is that why you're one of those perverts?

[begrimed]
