The story continues onward. In the span of another week, another four people perished. Your numbers have been diminishing more and more, making the world a little more empty.

At least the rumored giant peach that had been seen for a while is finally unveiled, in the middle of a lake surrounded by smaller yet still ridiculously large fruits. The landscape is idyllic and nonsensical, in par with the drunken escapades of last week. Given the everything that was this past weekend, why not sail on one of the magically operated rowboats and explore what this new area has to offer? You could even take a bite out one of the abundant normal-sized peaches floating around, if you're so inclined.

No, it's okay.

[ Makoto did need to do something in the kitchen. However, that is completely derailed when he sees the fish. It's a little surprising that Alexei wants to keep them, but Makoto takes the opportunity to get a closer look at the paper fish swimming obliviously in their bags. ]

Looks like you enjoyed goldfish scooping, though. They're actually kind of cute...

They are. They make the room seem less generally horrid; I find that I can't complain about their presence.

[...They're really cute.]

I admit I also find them fascinating from a magecraft perspective. I haven't seen anything so small given life like that.

Me neither. Now I wish I woulda caught some.

[ The little fishies get a smile out of him.
But, why does he have them in the kitchen... Makoto finally looks over at Alexei. ]

So, what are you going to keep them in? They don't need to eat or anything, right?

[ideismo]

I'm not sure. We seem to have a shortage of acceptable tanks and the like, so right now I'm just looking for something glass to keep them in. Somehow I doubt they'll have many thoughts on their surroundings.

You're welcome to one or two of them, if you like them so much.

[ Lucky for Alexei, Makoto knows where pretty much everything is in the kitchens. He nods, tearing himself away from the magic paper creatures to rummage. ]

Well, it's not perfect, but how about... [ Makoto holds up a glass pitcher, rounded bottom giving enough room if the fishes are small enough. ] this?

[ The offer almost has him drop the pitcher. ]

Really? I mean, you don't have to. I don't want to take something you enjoy.

[ They need the little joys where they can find them. ]

[Oh, thank god, someone who actually knows where things are here.]

I imagine they'll like that far better. As much as they like anything; I'm actually not certain that they do.

[They might?? Who knows.]

I don't mind. Besides, I can get some more if I sincerely want to; that godforsaken game is one of the few things I find myself good at in that area.

Perhaps not tonight, though; being out tonight is likely a bad idea.

[ Makoto listens as he takes the pitcher, filling it with water. ]

Yeah, I don't know either. It'll be easier to watch them in this at least. But is magic like this usually permanent?

... Was it your first time scooping goldfish?

...I first started this week.

[He has been, like. Very determinedly scooping goldfish on his off time.]

As for the magic along those lines, I wouldn't know. Most of what we use to give inanimate objects some form of life require complex formulas - it would be a waste, almost, to do it with something like this.

It's more difficult than it looks, right?

[ Makoto isn't good at it. The stupid paper poi always breaks on him.

Bringing the pitcher over, he sets it beside the bags. Makoto turns to the fish, consolingly. ] Don't worry guys, you aren't a waste.

[ Back to Alexei, ] What are you going to name them?

[ideismo]

[I mean, these fish aren't a waste, surely. They serve a noble purpose, or something.]

...I hadn't really thought about it, truth be told. I suppose one would name fish, though, correct? I've never been certain if they're considered pets or decoration.

[edamamepon]

[ Makoto tilts his head. ]

These ones? I'd say they're probably both, right?
But... I still think you should name them. You worked hard enough to get them this far.

[ideismo]

Perhaps I will, then.

[He makes a soft noise then, vaguely amused in nature.]

My apologies if I seem strange; I haven't had pets since I was very young. It's not really something I've thought about.

[ Makoto shakes his head. ]

That's okay, I wasn't allowed pets. By the time I was an adult, I didn't really want the responsibility, you know?

[ His gaze readjusts from fish up to Alexei. ]

... need help naming them?

You're more than welcome to assist with that if you want.

[You seem fond of the little dudes.]

We have dogs that work with the knights, though I've never worked with them personally. One of my captains was rather fond of them, however. He bred them once in a while. Puppies all over.

Really? Did you get to play with them at least?

[ Brainstorming expression engaged. ]

And okay, for names... do you have any hobbies? I mean, if you really like studying and machinery, I bet there's all kinds of clever name ideas.

Or do you... want something Japanese?

Not usually; they usually went with him on assignment.

[just...please picture a bunch of puppies in all their fat puppy glory trying their best at the whole soldier business.]

...We name a fair amount of our things after stars, where I'm from. Constellations, usually, though individual celestial bodies are also fair for certain things. That's where my first thought goes, with regards to names.

[ Oh, he pictures it, and he doesn't even try to keep it off his face. Mentioning stars brings him back to the present with a nod. Great idea, sir. ]

Alright, so what are your favorites? If they're anything like the ones where I'm from, they probably have some meaning to them, right?
