THIRD INVESTIGATION

INVESTIGATION III

Some days are long and some days are short. If this wasn't the third week of your stay, perhaps you might think that exhaustion had crept in from Wednesday's nights activities. But you know better than that by now.

Consciousness comes to you groggily, perhaps uncomfortably depending where you were when sleep suddenly took hold of you. While the world stands on the verge of awakening as the horizon blazes with a fiery glow, the sky remains a navy blue where you are.

The time is 5:00 AM. You could return to your slumber, but do you really think third time's the charm?

[Hmm... So everything seems to be working just fine and it's not like anyone smashed the controls or anything...

I'm sure there was an investigation for this somewhere, but I cannot for the life of me recall what the result was - how long does it take for the clock to reset itself, to turn back to the proper time? Is it like it's on a timer where it will change time as normal for a certain amount of time before automatically resetting to the correct time, or does it work some other way?]

[The clock only resets once a week when everything is fixed up post-murder, short of one of the guests manually resetting/synching it back up with the real time. With that said, it should be noted that it was synched up properly with the real time yesterday.]

[Excellent, thank you for clocktower 101!! So someone definitely messed with this at some point last night when we were all asleep...

He's going to have to find someone with a pocketwatch to get the exact time to figure out just how far off we are, but that seems like something that can be worked on during the trial.

It seems like that might be it but since I don't want to miss anything!! Is there anything off anywhere in the affected area - any footprints or blood trails or items left behind? What about the area just outside of that?]

[Nope, nothing else is really off unless Yeager wants to play around with the clock tower some! No footprints or blood trails around, even outside of the clock tower area unless he wants to wander over and see how Fountain Team is doing.]

[looks at the fountain, looks away, he pretends he does not see it. he's not being paid to handle bodies, it's not happening!!

Anyway, yeah sure, he'll mess with the tower, why not. He's not going to drastically change the time or anything right off the bat, but do the controls seem to be working as normal if he sets it to say... 1PM?]

[The controls are working, yep! 1 PM isn't too much of a difference but it does work and the clock changes accordingly. The position of the sun probably also changes a little but that's kind of hard to tell without a sundial since it's a 15 minute difference only.]

[Might as well check that, then!! Let's try... 7PM. This should definitely be more obvious as to the sun's positioning and the changing of time!! Is this even relevant to the investigation anymore, I don't think so, but Yeager is here to waste time (literally)!!!!]

[The sun sets to leave a rosy sky as the flowers in the vicinity close and the pumpkin appears in the fountain where Yor's body was. Welp?!]

[casually messing with other investigations, whoops??? well this looks important, so!!

What's up with this pumpkin?? I just had to google "do pumpkins float" so is it floating in the fountain??]

[My wording was bad rip but considering it seems to have a door in it, it would probably float if the fountain was deep enough. As it is, it's kind of just squishing Suga's leg to the bottom of the fountain some but this is fine, surely.]

[While Suga's got the inside, he'll take the outside. I'm keeping this here instead of moving it because he'll definitely be messing with the time of the clocktower again in a bit, rip to the fountain crew.

But for now - how's the fountain and the outside of the pumpkin look now that it's there? What... is this pumpkin exactly. Do we have a location this presumably came from?]

That sounds like a dreadful idea! I was planning on changing the time a bit to see how it disappears, so let's not jump to the stupidest idea possible immediately, ja?

[He is not going to risk killing Suga, so if you want to miss evidence then stay in there, I guess?]

[The fountain looks the same (although the water level might have risen a bit because. pumpkin), just with the oversize gourd in there. If Yeager's messed with the clock tower before though, he'll find that the pumpkin will consistently appear in the fountain so long as it's set to nighttime, like a cheap knockoff version of Cinderella's carriage.]

[He's presumably messed with the clocktower at least once because he'd find it funny (even though I kept forgetting to put that in a top level, rip) so!! Good to know that this is a thing that happens and that the pumpkin is always here. Does it look like the pumpkin's been damaged at all on the outside?]

[Nope! Aside from the handle that Suga already found, nothing weird or off about the pumpkin on the outside!]

[Hmm! Okay, so now that Suga's out of the pumpkin, it's time to mess around with the time and see how things go... but first!! If the idea is to test what will happen when something is in the pumpkin, then he can use an item instead of a person, so he'll go grab a stick and toss that inside the pumpkin. Now, if he messes with the time again and moves it forward (checking every hour!) what happens to the pumpkin and the stick inside when he reaches daytime?]

[So, the pumpkin stays around until we get to 5:30 AM when sunrise is. The moment the sun is up, the pumpkin vanishes and the stick drops into the fountain with a plop.]

[Excellent, that's about what he thought would happen! So a body in there would probably do the exact same thing... If he keeps messing with the time in hour increments, does anything else interesting show up or otherwise seem disturbed?]

[Nope, Yeager just gets to see an unnaturally accelerated sunrise but that's par the course for this clock tower area anyways, so!]

[Excellent, that's all the questions he had answered, so if anyone else has more they can investigate the clocktower!! He's out, time to relax until the trial, goddamn.]
