[This is Marcus standing very, very close to Phil, right hand half-raised just in case he needs to make a grab for his gunblade.

But at the same time, he's going to be scanning the area, since there are plenty of tools that would make excellent murder weapons, after all.]

[Working in tandem to investigate the furniture shop, not bad! Let's see what's there to be found.

The workshop is in order. Everything seems to be in its rightful place. Marcus will be able to see it's all well placed and quite clean.

Including the tools. There are no tools missing. Hm? But there does seem to be something out of its place...? From where Phil and Marcus are standing they may not see too well what it is, but something does seem to have been left on a table]

[ Phil wouldn't have been much help in the tool inspection department anyway, so... let's go look at that table. Is this still in the workshop part or in the furniture shop? ]

... damn. Doesn't look like anything's out of place back here, and there are no signs of a struggle, either. If someone did take something, they must've cleaned it and put it back.

[... there aren't going to be any traces of anything weird on the tools, are there?]

[Traces, traces...seems like there are no traces! The tools are quite pristine, neatly placed on their spots. It'd be pleasing to the eye if this wasn't a murder investigation!]

[Hmm... so they haven't been used... he'll be making a mental note of that much.]

[And then something else occurs to him. How's that stack of lumber looking? Anything missing from there?]

[faentasy]

[The stack of lumber looks like it hasn't been touched recently! Unless Marcus or Phil did, in which case he should be able to remember it didn't show any signs of having been touched before they arrived!]

[All right, let's move on to the store itself. Do we have any missing/damaged furniture here?]

[Ah, let's see...

No missing furniture, it seems! Or damaged. It looks like everything is nice and set for a day of sales for the people trapped in this world]

This is for sharpening, right?

[ Pointing toward the sharpening stone, JUST TO BE SURE... ]

It looks like it may have been used recently... was anyone else planning on using this workshop, as far as we know?

[Marcus looks up from where he's been checking out the furniture when he realizes Phil is talking to him.]

Yeah, for knives and tools. You think whoever did this may have used it?

[HMM.]

I did meet another girl in here on the first day... she was messing around with one of the saws, but she also said she'd never seen one up close before. I get the feeling she wouldn't know what a sharpening stone was for if she found one.

Possibly, depending on how she was killed.

[ Since they were just already in here when they started investigating, they don't have the fairy files yet... ]

If no tools are out of place here, maybe they brought a knife or something here from somewhere else for sharpening?

[mirrite]

That would make sense, except for one thing. The average knife should be more than sharp enough to kill without needing to be sharpened.

[How ironic, that his experience with weaponry should be coming into play like this.]

So either they had a dull blade to begin with, or they were trying to make something else into a weapon.

Mm, true... and it wouldn't make much sense to bring a table knife all the way from one of the kitchens to sharpen when they could have just taken a steak knife instead.

...Well, maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Maybe.

[He sounds terse.]

Anything else look funny? 'Cause I'm not finding anything unusual over here.

Might wanna hang onto that just in case, though.

[It's on the workshop part of the store, indeed.

Behold, Phil, Marcus: a sharpening stone. If either of you is familiar with the workshop, you probably will remember having seen some of these before, stored in a drawer. Tools that constantly get used need sharpening, after all]

[ Hm. Is there any metal dust on the table or anything that would further indicate it may have been used recently? ]

[faentasy]

[Ah, looks like there's a little bit around the stone! Which perhaps wouldn't be proof enough of anything...if it wasn't for the scratches on the stone. Scratches that certainly look fresh, to the point Phil could pass a finger on them and get dust stuck to him]

[ cool, i wasn't sure if visible scratches were a thing lmao i'm good at tools

Assuming he doesn't immediately touch it, there aren't any vague fingerprints in the dust on the stone, are there? ]

[Correct! No vague fingerprints to be found. Or clear fingerprints either, really]

[ Anything else of note on or around this table?

If not, can we check where the rope would usually be since I'm not sure if that's included in tools or not? They were going to want a lot of it for the clocktower mission. ]

[Nothing else to note on or around this table!

Ah, there's indeed rope here! But it doesn't seem like there's any missing. There's going to be plenty for bird-flinging projects, at least!]

[ Well thank god for that.

He'll glance at the floor to make sure there aren't any visible tracks of any kind, and then look around the room one more time, walking along the perimeter. Anything else that would catch his attention in here? ]

[There doesn't seem to be anything else standing out!]
