Epilogue

After all is said and done, in the wake of the void and sprinting through one final door.

You come out into light. Sunlight actually, a backyard in what appears to be a typical suburban town, if you're familiar with those. The sun shines cheerfully overheard, blissfully unaware of what everyone has went through. And this is everyone, as faces you haven't seen in weeks tumble out in one pile from a basement door.

Happy Saturday, everyone.

There's plenty of reunions and catching up to do, but you've utterly left Aira Niluc behind you after seven long weeks. And through the window of the house which looks like it has seen a better seen better days is one wall mural that reads "And they all lived Happily Ever After".

Right? That one means a lot to me, but... well, I guess I have to start a whole new collection of them now.

[ He tries to hand it back to Makoto. ]

[ Makoto blinks. Then realizes how that last bit got taken and laughs. He'll take the figure back anyway though, just in case. ]

Yeah, it really is. And sorry, I just meant I'm not going back home, so this little guy is the start of a whole new collection. There are plenty of machines where I'm going.

What about you, still taking that other invitation?

[ The smile kind of fades at that question though. It's still there, just... Sadder. ]

Eh... As much as I'd like the extra cash, I don't think I'm taking that after all. Last thing I need after this mess is to get caught up in some shady game...

[ Makoto still has the figure closed in his fist when he tilts his head back over to him. It's hard to deny the end result was worth fighting for, but he would rather move on already. ]

I'm going back with Tenn and Riku. Who knows if I even exist in their Japan, but... it'll be a fresh start, you know?
