Epilogue

After all is said and done, in the wake of the void and sprinting through one final door.

You come out into light. Sunlight actually, a backyard in what appears to be a typical suburban town, if you're familiar with those. The sun shines cheerfully overheard, blissfully unaware of what everyone has went through. And this is everyone, as faces you haven't seen in weeks tumble out in one pile from a basement door.

Happy Saturday, everyone.

There's plenty of reunions and catching up to do, but you've utterly left Aira Niluc behind you after seven long weeks. And through the window of the house which looks like it has seen a better seen better days is one wall mural that reads "And they all lived Happily Ever After".

Well, I hardly think I was ever particularly at risk. Except from the... Other Yor Forger, I suppose. The Beldam.

Still, I wouldn't have guessed many of you were at risk. The afterlife wasn't too unpleasant, I trust?

[ He raised a brow. ] The Beldam turned into Yor?

[ Ooookay, he ain't sure what to think of that. ]

Not really. Other than being surrounded by gelatin and so-called faeries, things were pretty much the same... Except if you died, you just pop right back into the dining room.

Then the shopkeeper turned out to be a literal monster and all hell broke loose.

She sure did. She seemed convinced that both of them being "mothers" made them similar. I wanted to cut her head off for that.

[Yor was a lot of things but she was ultimately a good mom. Better than her own mom, at least.]

Wait... I'm sorry? Gelatin?

The instant resurrection does seem helpful, though.

Why does that sound like some twisted compliment?

[ Because Norton cannot imagine Yor acting... Well, he knows she can be violent, but not sinister. ]

Yeah, remember that stuff Yuri and Huaisang were eating when we got notes from the dead around... Two? Three weeks in? There was more of it, but all kinds of food shoved into that jiggly stuff. A lot of it, you wouldn't wanna see in the jiggly stuff.

[ Stargazer pie was bad enough before it got jello'd. ]

Yeah... Not really. I think she fought half of us in the palace itself.

You know, I think it was supposed to be a compliment too. I don't think she was even lying when she spoke about how much she loved the children she devoured.

[It's not an unfamiliar sentiment to her from the monsters in her own life.]

...I think even just hearing that has put me off gelatin for life. My condolences, truly.
