Well, I would not have minded, I think -- but I am unfortunately not a mind reader, and neither, shockingly, is Hamelin... I certainly didn't know the intentions of everyone in that trial, but I doubt most of them were quite as benign.

[A pleasant shrug; he does seem entirely sincere about the matter, for some bizarre reason. Maybe just because he is Jack, whatever that entails. The question makes him laugh a little, the clarity of it a little too bright for a cell and the times. What else is new, though.
