Good Morning. Did you sleep well? It certainly feels like you have, perhaps too well, even for those who don't normally sleep. Maybe that's to be expected in this fairy tale, maybe it was only a matter of time.

[Oh, dear. Jack’s brow knits a little more as he looks over the scene again, rope and gutter contents and all, and then finally reaches out a hand to Norton — if he seems amenable he’ll place it on his shoulder.

Otherwise he just shakes his head, briefly.]

Please, take some time and a few more breaths. Many act oddly in a situation like this, and we may question William on his motivations at a later time.

My first priority is to wrap up the investigation so that the body may be safely recovered, but I thank you for trying to help, it seems, regardless. If you’d like, I can take it from here.

Honestly, he was half expecting to not actually find anything here, so this is a bit of a surprise-especially since the rope wasn't really tied around Sami's body.

So, he'll be checking her torso-specifically the area near the stomach bruising since that's easier-and her legs, since he's pretty sure there's rope there too.]

[He does indeed take his time taking it in, because he really does not have context for any of this other than that it seems the strangest search-and-not-rescue party he’s borne witness to in some time.

He will have to try not to get underfoot with all the climbers, and so he’ll stay on the ground for now, moving to slightly different angles on the chimney. Anything unusual about it, or is he going to have to join the Trellis circus troupe??]

[There's nothing near the stomach bruising beyond... well, the bruise. However, if he flips her over somehow, there's similar discoloration where she was lying on her back, with the exception of the areas where she was on the rope. The same dealio with the legs as the arms, really--only the underside of the legs has the discoloration, but where her legs would've been pressed up against the rope underneath, it remains pale.]

[Perhaps the creaking sound is an indication of the state of the trellis in the face of Yor climbing up and down it -- it didn't sound like this when, say, Rika went up to the roof -- but no matter how hard she tries it seems her weight isn't enough to make it bend like that]

[It's a little difficult to examine the chimney both from this distance and this angle so yes, joining the Trellis Troupe would probably be his best bet... is what I would say, but if he tries to climb the trellis, it would quickly become obvious that it can't hold his weight.

So either he'll have to get creative here or maybe rope someone else into this. Of course, there's also that hole in the roof too so technically going through the attic is also an option if he can get a boost, maybe.]

[Well, that limits his options a fair bit, as the corpse pulley is out and he’s certainly careful enough to thoroughly test such a rickety-looking trellis. He’s really not looking to learn to fly today, no matter what laws of gravity are being broken...!

That being said, he’s also patient enough to try all avenues, so it seems the attic is his best bet — no idea who’s still up in there at this time, but what are the odds a few of those wooden boxes would let him pull himself through that hole up to the roof? He’ll stand on tippy toes??

He could also call for someone up on the roof to help pull him through but after the fiasco with William and The Rope Trick perhaps he will refrain for now.]

[If he stacks enough of them up, then he sure can improvise some box stairs to get to the roof! The hole is pretty narrow as it is, so he'll probably have to widen it somehow, but what's a little more property damage between friends, eh.

Anyways, assuming the hole is widened and rope crew gets to him, Jack can make it to the roof successfully! Bask in that feeling of accomplishment??]

[Accomplished, yes, but he kind of wanted to climb that trellis for the full experience...... but no, the important thing here is clearly Murder and not setting sauce, and therefore he must make do with what he has.

Surely he can find something in the house to widen the hole, anywho, even if the chisel’s quite possibly gone to better pastures — one of those endless broomsticks, maybe.

Now: what’s up with the chimney, please, he did not come here to become a chimney sweep but he will do his..... somethingmost.....]

[Okay, this isn't what he thought, so his current theory still stands, but now this just raises more questions?? So, one question at the moment;

What kind of discoloration is this? Does it look more natural, akin to a rash, or artificial, like something rubbed off on Sami's skin?

But alright, so since Jack is looking at the chimney, he'll notice that the bricks (and a little bit of the clay roof tiles, tbh) right at the base of the chimney show some signs of damage and scuffing. They're not big and conspicuous marks, but it's kind of like something scraped up the brick and chipped some small bits off of it.]

[It looks natural! It looks a little similar to bruising because the color is pretty much the same purplish-red that you would find from that, but none of it's swollen like the bruising on Samidare's chest. It's definitely not something rubbed off on her skin though.]

[How very odd, or as the Professor and a certain strange girl might have said in another time: curiouser and curiouser. Now, before I forget, perhaps we should add this to our daiagrom court record and figure out where the chimney is in relation to the crime scene itself. Regardless of its current disarray—

He’ll also wave at least one of the more scholarly roof crew over to contemplate this with him, but for now: is there any pattern or trailing marks indicating why these scratches are here?

Don’t mind him crouched at the chimney on this precarious roof made of Jenga tiles like a loser OK.]

are these patterns/trailing marks/scuff marks consistent with the flecks that are on the adze? ]

[The chimney is at the west end of the house, so it's closer to the broken tiles and where Samidare's body was found than Holey Moley.

There aren't any kind of discernable pattern or trail marks coming from the base of the chimney!

Also he's only a loser if he falls, it's fine???]

[Alright, and just to make sure, this isn't any sort of sign of decay, right? Nothing that the parrot should know and the player wouldn't know?]

[The brick bits from the adze would match up in color for sure. The flecks on the adze are honestly pretty fine so you can't like... ram one in to fit it into the scratched up brick like some 3-D puzzle though, if that's what you're asking.]

[ more like! if he were to use the adze to chip at the chimney (i'm sorry but he would) it would kind of match the way the chimney is currently scratched up? he's trying to prove that was what the adze was used for, beyond any doubt! ]

[It's not decay, but like. How much does the parrot know about postmortem changes?]

[The marks made by the adze would be consistent with how the chimney is marked up, yes!]

[ okay that's one mystery solved - are the marks concentrated on any one particular side of the chimney or would someone be able to deduce moving patterns based off the scuff marks or no?

last question I THINK... would the chimney still be warm. if the oven was warm. are they both linked. ]

[Probably some of it? He's probably had thoughts on hybrids of humans at some point, and that requires biology knowledge, and that would probably lead to some knowledge about things that happen to bodies after death so...yeah, gonna say a bit, but not really an expert on it.]

[Alright! Well, the parrot may have heard the term livor mortis, which refers to the tendency of blood to be pulled down by gravity after death. So, this means it tends to pool at the lowest points of the body because... well, physics.]

[The marks are mostly on the east-facing side of the chimney although most of it's also at the corner of the chimney. Can't really tell anything about direction, nope.

The chimney is not warm!]

[Okay, the parrot definitely learned about that even if the player didn't know what that actually was, so let's just say he had a brain fart for a moment about it and leave it at that.
