Who said anything about life as somebody's plaything? I'm not saying we write in keeping him on a leash for eternity. I don't really care what happens to him as long as we all get to go home. Or, someplace safe.
Besides, if he'd choose to fight with us anyway, what does it matter if we write it that way or not? You think he'd rather die than be forced into one last fight?
Sorry, but I think that's a stupid choice. I'd let him make it, but I wouldn't like it.
